It is. had many different styles of instrumentation (which made it a much more enjoyable listen for me) while I can't say the same for WMUH. I do hope he goes for something different with his next album though. low? eh. i think it's fine. and yeah lack of variety is the issue 11 minutes ago, Vilppu said: Laura and Wednesday Campanella were amazing, both should be higher than JMSN and L4L at least x i think superman is on the frontloaded side in terms of quality and i haven't spent much time on it either. keep hating on jmsn but that won't knock his hustle x 10 minutes ago, Eeveelution said: Poor Laura. I agree that LFL is long but it's obvs too low. And stay away from Head First unless you like, really, love their other albums. woops a genuine typo, and considering semper's context. getting a bit of whatsthetruth.gif from these suggestions but i'll have to use my own ears to judge.

Wicked Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I listened to one JMSN album and I was out. I can't differentiate between Lana albums anymore so I haven't even listened to LFL. Agreed about Charlotte's album though.
Playa Playa Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Superman was a nice surprise but yeah pretty front-loaded. Charlotte Gainsbourg is my fave from this batch :clap3:
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted January 2, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted January 2, 2018 Surprised Lana made it so far! Love Charlotte and Wednesday Campanella, do you know anybody who makes music like them?!
TRF. Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Karen's album was nice! loved to see Charlotte and Lana too. the Wednesday Campanella album was not really my thing unfortunately, which is sad bc I usually love that type of stuff
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted January 2, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted January 2, 2018 I've been meaning to give LFL another spin. Let me just play your key tracks since I agree with your review
SLIME Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I missed a bit much but what I can say, that's banging top end to the songs list. Everyone has different Kelela picks and I keep shouting them all but Blue Light is a real one for real, love the #1 too. I just need to listen to K.R.I.T. still SMH, these double albums gonna be my downfall. Good spot for LFL. I've been trying to find something similar to Superman myself and besides the recent Mondo Grisso's Reborn Again album, haven't had much luck OT: Update time! I'm serving a bit "graphic design is my passion" with some of these writeups.
Tom Vercetti Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 50. Planning For Burial - Below The House (Shoegaze/Drone Metal) Spoiler Below The House is a mixture of Shoegaze, Drone, Metal & Slowcore and offers a desolating winter-like experience. Highlights: Whiskey & Wine, Warmth Of You, Dull Knife Pt. II 49. Power Trip - Nightmare Logic (Thrash Metal) Spoiler Riffs galore. A suitable album to get whatever anger or angst out with their frenzy bundled tracks. Highlights: Executioner's Tax (Swing Of The Axe), Firing Squad, If Not Us Then Who 48. Xiu Xiu - Forget (Art Pop) Spoiler Forget is a unique pop album with interesting song arrangements, catchy yet surreal melodies, and occasional creepy turnouts. I wasn't completely into it however all the way through, but in the moments where they do standout, it hits. Highlights: Get Up, Forget, Wondering, Jenny GoGo 47. Migos - Culture (Trap Rap) Spoiler ATRL's Public Enemy #2 actually made a good album under their arsenal, and their sophmore album led them to much success in 2017. Culture is overall fun and what makes it fun is Migos's lively delivery with the turn up beats that blends ever so nicely. Even though the singles obviously gett the most attention there's a couple of album cuts here that hold on a similar energy. Highlights: Get Right Witcha, What The Price, T-Shirt, Slippery, Kelly Price 46. Pond - The Weather (Psych Pop) Spoiler A sub Currents album but it works for me. Just like Melody Echo Chamber's self titled album, Kevin Parker's contribution is easily present. Highlights: Colder Than Ice, Paint Me Silver, Sweep Me Off My Feet, The Weather 45. SZA - CTRL (Contemporary R&B) Spoiler Back when her career was constantly shelved by wicked chains of delays and setbacks, it didn't look too good for SZA. 2017 was her year however, and i'm happy she got to release what she wanted. CTRL achieved in reaching upon many as relatable and authentic with the themes it discussed and songwriting, therefore making it her most accessible record. I've always liked her vocals, even in features with other tde mates. Now I know what the majority of y'all are thinking "why is this so low!" "deserved better, etc" Well, the fact is while I like SZA and CTRL, I wasn't that wow'd or stanned it as hard as the majority. There's something distinctive about her past mixtapes that appealed more to me. Will still check out her supposedly Tame Impala collab. Highlights: Love Galore, Broken Clocks, Prom, Pretty Little Birds, Supermodel 44. Ariel Pink - Dedicated To Bobby Jameson (Psych Pop) Spoiler Along with partner in crime, John Maus, Ariel is an expert at making hypnagogic pop with the sense of dreaminess and quirkiness. I'm not too familiar with everything Ariel made so I can't get around to comparisons, but what I can say is that throughout the length, there's a sense of diversity and self awareness that makes Bobby Jameson a wholesome lo-fi ride. Highlights: Another Weekend, Feels Like Heaven, I Wanna Be Young, Kitchen Witch 43. Shabazz Palaces - Quazarz vs Jealous Machines (Abstract Hip Hop) Spoiler Out of the two albums they released, Jealous Machines had more of a stable tracklist and emphasis on Butler's rapping and lyricism. Jealous Machines's space like production supports its extraterrestrial aesthetic and while the album isn't as effective as their previous two in executing a fully fleshed out concept, there's an enjoyable middle section that packs heat and charm that made them a special duo to me. Highlights: 30 Clip Extension, Effeminence, Gorgeous Sleeper Cell, Julian's Dream (ode to a bad) 42. Ryuichi Sakamoto - async (Ambient) Spoiler Async is another piece of evidence of how emotional electronic music can be with the right tools and melancholic atmosphere. Highlights: andata, solari, ZURE, fullmoon 41. G Perico - All Blue (G-Funk/West Coast Hip Hop) Spoiler I'd like to describe this as a cohesive driveby through the west coast supplied by DJ Quik's understudy (this is a good thing). The cover makes it better. Highlights: Wit Me or Not, Bacc Forth, Right Now, Gets My Staccs, All Blue

World Eater Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 FORGET, Bobby and Quazarz I need to check out async, I've been in the mood for some ambient lately All Blue>2 tha Left
Pink Matter Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Pond and SZA I never finished Culture but I liked what I heard (WTP is a definite highlight so I gotta get on that) Didn't like the new Ariel Pink all that much and I don't think I can get into Shabazz Palaces I don't know what it is but there's just something stopping me from liking their music. Gonna make sure to check that G. Perico guy out though. He looks interesting
Same Ol' Mistakes Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I'm pretty surprised Culture is on your list. Glad Ctrl isn't that high. Don't know about the rest but I'm intrigued by Shabazz Places.

Nah I've listened to some of their earlier records (Lese Majesty to be exact, though admittedly I don't really remember it that well so a relisten could always change my opinion) and those didn't really sit well with me either. I'll try some relistening to LM cuz something could always click for me later on and maybe an older record too.
Price of Fame Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Haven't listened to most of this batch but I'll take the time to say that while LFL sucks, Coachella is one of the best tracks on it
