Amazing Top 10 :clap3:

I said this somewhere else but EOY lists got me to listen to Thinking Of a Place more and it really is a great Dad Rock anthem.

And Subenstein (My Sub IV), XXX, Blue Light are definitely top-tier on their respective albums, so I'm here for them picks.

1. The War On Drugs - Thinking Of A Place (Heartland Rock)

Dad Rock won in the end :eli: The musical composition, the endearing lyrics, Adam's authentic vocals, the traces of Americana imagery, the sprawling duration. Everything about it entails a long and rich journey through the roadways of life and new experiences. There was a time where I hated songs that lasted longer than 4-5 minutes and this was mainly because all I was ever exposed to were radio songs, but as I got older and explored more I achieved greater patience and appreciation for songs that are in layered in sonic detail and progression. It's a poetic anthem that I can play at anytime of the day, from the bright early morning sunrise to the warm and settling evenings that are close to ending the day. When a song this monumental uses every second in favorable usage, it gets nothing but praise from me. No other track this year gives me the kind of vivid feelings that Thinking Of A Place achieved.

Only tracks that are missing are from Melody's Echo Chamber and Jay's 4:44 for obvious reasons.

I’ve been hesitant to comment on some of these songs because the similarities to the upcoming places on my list are uncanny and I feel id reveal too much :deadbanana:

Nevertheless, I’m loving the choices greatly and cheers for the playlist :angelo:

Your best SOTY. :-*

Nice top 10. I enjoyed previous releases by Chelsea and Shabazz Palaces but for whatever reason I didn't really keep up this year. Blue Light is obviously great, so is I'll Still Destroy You. XXX is nice. I still think TWOD are overrated but Thinking of a Place is one of their best and a truly beautiful song

Based on what i've witnessed, XO is cemented as Uzi's classic. It has reached out to the masses (a legit hit) and connected with them, We all have our troubles in life and ways on dealing with them and with Uzi & his girl, the topics range from popping Xannys (substance abuse) to the thought of Suicide. Although this song is upbeat and catchy in a production sense, the track is still melancholic in nature. A brilliant mix I might say.

I was going through the songs I didn't hear yet from your list but I wanted to quickly expand on this. I agree.

I used to **** on Uzi before he made this (he's painful on B&B), but after listening to it a few months ago I appreciated it. I think he has a nice spot in hip hop. I mean Future mentioned substance abuse but Uzi does tackle it differently here in a way I see the appeal. This kind of song above all else was very needed. It wasn't on my own list but I do think it's one of the best songs of the year.

Anyways, I finally peeped all the songs I didn't hear, and as usual most were great. :clap3: can't wait for your albums list.

Oh wow, Kelallah did THAT :jonny4: Love your choice too. LMK is excellent but c'mon it's not even close to being a TMA highlight.

Chelsea :alexz: She deserves it. Not really one of my top picks from Hiss Spun, but still a great song.

Perfect Kendrick choice :clap3: Definitely a DAMN highlight. Agree with what you said about it.

I'll Still Destroy You is cute.

...Interesting #1 (*screams in OTWODH*) :clown: jk, this was my favorite on ADU so I'll clap3 to that

I'm no Uzi fan either but I will give him credit when deserved. Features just aren't his strength.

She did. I'd put LMK as a highlight for others sake only because it got many people into her material.

I noticed some slight otwodh tendencies from other threads, but glad u acknowledged it as the best, x.

I did not expect the Blue Light praise from you at all, it's the best song on TMA by far :alexz:
