No promises on The Weekend as another SZA track could appear. :psych:

Tbf, it was a pretty random collaboration at first.

I kinda feel the opposite way about ATRL'S WP Magnet J-Boy, I loved it at first but haven't listened to it since what, July? :skull: Cool Your Heart is nice but I can't think of it without having in mind this messy P4k Festival performance :rip:

Mondo Grosso's Labyrinth deserved MUCH better.

167. The Magnetic Fields - '83: Foxx and I

165. Tei Shi - How Far
159. Dirty Projectors ft Dawn Richard - Cool Your Heart

these were all nice

I couldn't really get into "Darling", but I liked "Good Shot, Good Soldier", thought it was one of the highlights of A Fever Dream. I quite liked the Gang of Youths album this year, but "What Can I Do" wasn't one of my personal highlights. Good song, though.

I, um...I don't really like "J-Boy". :dancehall:

155. Charlie Puth - How Long (Pop)

NEOIMP-14364.jpg

Spoiler

I think this is one of the better radio pop songs of the year and his best song. He sounds better here than he's ever have and I like the bass line.  The one thing I can give him credit for is self production. Lyrics here can obviously be better, but that's not the main selling point. @conatus won.

154. Sinjin Hawke - Don't Lose Yourself To This (UK Bass/EDM)

sinjin-hawke-first-opus-cover.jpg

Spoiler

A keeper from First Opus, those loud pulsating synths and the way the transition near 2/3rd of the song kicks in those tribal-like sounds.

153. Gucci Mane ft Offset - Met Gala (Trap rap)

Gucci-Mane-Droptop-Wop-Cover1.jpeg

Spoiler

With Metro Boomin being one of the top producers of the year, he didn't disappoint in contributing to one of Gucci's best songs post Prison. Offset's delivery is also adds a necessary fuel to this banger.

152. Cut Copy - Standing In The Middle OF The Field (Electropop)

cutcopycover_sq-644b292857de113cc64bf17d412840a79208194b-s300-c85.jpg

Spoiler

There's a consistent and catchy rhythm that gives it some spunk. Captured my attention from the start.

151. Rhye - Taste (Sophisti-Pop)

rhye taste.jpg

Spoiler

Taste has slightly more flavor in production for my tastes compared to the other two songs he released this year.

150. Danny L Harle ft Morrie  - Me4u (bubblegum bass)

600x600bf.jpg

Spoiler

I'm not a big fan of the bubblegum/pc style in general but there's something about Morrie's chipmunk'd vocals that works with the bouncy production.

149. Broken Social Scene - Hug Of Thunder (Indie Rock)

hugofthunder_broken.jpg

Spoiler

This is probably Feist's best song this year? Idk but it's up there.

148. Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling (Pop)

ad523611d10b7b671e603ab175d91d57.1000x1000x1.jpg

Spoiler

Huge chorus, everything else alright. There's nothing new or special about this song as a whole and it seems appropriate as a standalone. Still a tune though.

147. Bicep - Glue (Deep House)

146. Quelle Chris ft Big Tone, Roc Marciano, 87 - Fascinating Grass (Underground/Abstract Hip Hop)

241955.jpg

Spoiler

For the real ones. The industrial and pulsating beat that goes on adds to that appealing dark/hazy atmosphere, which works since this track is basically about drugs.

145. Yaeji - Feel It Out (Ambient House)

artworks-000222267237-n6la2y-t500x500.jpg

Spoiler

"Sh*t is crazy, sh*t is yaeji" Her best lyric.

144. Baba Stiltz - Can't Help It (House)

763254_large.jpg

Spoiler

I have to thank Spotify for discovering this. There's something strangely melancholic and nostalgic about this for me.

143. DEAN ft Syd - Love (R&B)

DEAN-Love-Feat.-Syd.jpg?fit=600,600&ssl=1

Spoiler

They should do more collabs since they sound well together. The switchup near the end is cool.

142. The Afghan Whigs - Demon In Profile (Alternative Rock)

1b836851.jpg

Spoiler

I dig the instrumentation and vocals. Rock isn't completely dead just yet.

141. G Perico - Bacc Forth (G-Funk/West Coast Hip Hop)

G-Perico-All-Blue.jpg

Spoiler

I'm always here for an anti-trump song. Bacc Forth represents his L.A lifestyle and successes . Perico's style reminds me of DJ Quik's. Don't let the cover fool ya.
