Bubble Tea Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I loooovvveee "What Lovers Do"! Good call.
K$Ellie Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Song 2, wowz that was the one Kesha sampled for her unreleased bop Woo Hoo Don't Wanna Know and Walk On Water are awful. I can see why Shawn and Cardi would be on the list but SNS slays Old Flames isn't one of my faves on Rainbow but it didn't deserve to make the list Like It Ain't Nuttin and How Long are so annoying What Lovers Do wouldn't be that bad but it's basic + M5 so
lhdang2000 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Ok so I've finally here, and you think SNS IS WORSE THAN BODAK YELLOW. I love your 1997 countdown tho. I wasn't born that time, so I've learned a lot of songs of the year from your countdown.
Remmy Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Worst Songs, #10-6: Hmm this set is a little messy. Nuttin' is just okay and Old Flames is the weakest from Rainbow, but neither are bad. How Long is actually Charlie's best single in a bit What Lovers Do >> DWK + Cold Best of 1997, #15-11: If It Makes You Happy + Tubthumping Spice Girls are way too low unless they have a 2nd song on here

theblackestday Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Attention ain’t worse than the STD/Thunder/SJLT which are probably the worst of the year indeed
TheWayWeWere Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I found Attention is actually cute at least better than Thunder or STD, especially letter Gorgeous was ruined by the lyrics tbh
prézli Posted December 15, 2017 Author Posted December 15, 2017 Spoiler Will Smith is my favorite rapper of all time because 'Switch' is one of my favorite rap songs of all time. He released his first solo single Men in Black in the summer of 1997 and it immediately cemented him as a legend, not to mention the success of the film 'Men in Black'. The song peaked at #1 in Europe and on the Hot 100 Airplay, selling over 2 million copies worldwide and earning him a Grammy. Spoiler When Spice Girls debuted in 1996, there was no stop for them. I think everyone knows how huge and impactful they were back then. The second single off their debut album 'Spice' was Say You'll Be There that remains their best song ever and one of their few songs that feels less cringeworthy 20 years later. It is catchy and their voices sound harmonic on each other. Spoiler Poor All Saints debuted at the same time as Spice Girls, but time has proved them right. Their debut single still sounds current which is weird because we're talking about a 1997 song! Their discography is simply timeless, just look at their 2000 hit 'Pure Shores'. Despite not being their most successful song, I Know Where It's At is one of their best. They know where it's at indeed. Spoiler Every 90s kid's first favorite movie was 'Spice Jam'. It was mine, at least. I Believe I Can Fly is one of the best ballads of the 90s, it aged like wine, even better years later. CHILLS. 1997 started emotionally because it peaked at #2 behind 'Un-Break My Heart' by Toni Braxton (charted on my Bubbling Under) in early the year. The song is Kelly's signature hit, too bad that he didn't stay on this road. Spoiler Unpopular fact: Tearin' Up My Heart is 'N Sync's best song. (Yes, NOT 'Bye Bye Bye', sorry guys.) Even though, another boy band named Backstreet Boys was around the corner in 1997, 'N Sync was about to take them over worldwide. They peaked three years later, but this song is so underrated while being a pure gem. Listen to Justin Timberlake's part, it's everything that he's not in 2017. I wish JC had a solo career. Spoiler 20. White Town - Your Woman 19. The Cardigans - Lovefool 18. Blackstreet - No Diggity (feat. Dr. Dre & Queen Pen) 17. All Saints - Never Ever 16. Texas - Say What You Want 15. Ultra Naté - Free 14. Spice Girls - Spice Up Your Life 13. Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack 12. Sheryl Crow - If It Makes You Happy 11. Chumbawamba - Tubthumping 10. Will Smith - Men in Black 9. Spice Girls - Say You'll Be There 8. All Saints - I Know Where It's At 7. R. Kelly - I Believe I Can Fly 6. 'N Sync - Tearin' Up My Heart
