prézli Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 The last decade was all about Timbaland. He released the second chapter of Shock Value in the end of 2009 and it was clear that Timbaland was in the best place that he had ever been. He collaborated with many artists, including JoJo, Justin Timberlake, Chad Kroeger from Nickelback, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus... Although, the album didn't meet much commercial success, he delivered quality. In 2010, newcomer Natalia Kills (now known as Teddy Sinclair) became a pop sensation and got a huge fanbase immediately. Her debut album Perfectionist was out in the following year to polarized reviews. Co-produced by label boss and mentor will.i.am, Natalia wrote all of her songs, worked with top producers like Akon and Fernando Garibay and made us sure that she was here to stay and slay. Nelly Furtado released her first English album in over 6 years The Spirit Indestructible in 2012, she also served as an executive producer for it. The album was meant to be spiritual with pop, hip hop and R&B elements about revisiting her old self. The deluxe edition with some bonus tracks contains about 20 tracks for fans to enjoy. This was her last release that was managed by a major music label. Following her acclaimed debut album, Natalia Kills once again slayed with her latest album Trouble. With even darker sound and more explicit lyricism, Kills proved that she is a master of this genre. Among dark pop, it contains rock influences as well. Trouble is her only album that debuted inside top 100 of Billboard 200. The lead single 'Problem' was featured in Pitch Perfect 2 and We're the Millers. Controversial rapper Azealia Banks surprise-released her debut album Broke with Expensive Taste in 2014 without any prior announcement and any major music label behind her. It was named one of the best albums of year, making it to many year-end best of lists. Like her previous efforts (an EP and a mixtape), rap meets dance and house instrumentations on the record. British rock band Nothing but Thieves broke throught with their lead single 'Itch' in 2015 and later with 'Trip Switch' in the United States. They soon became favorites among the alternative rock audience, touring with Muse as a supporting act. Their album Nothing but Thieves debuted in top 10 in the UK and top 130 in the United States. There was no stop for them to fame since then. Christian rock band Switchfoot released their tenth studio album at Vanguard Records in 2016. They went back to their old producer John Fields with whom they worked on their breakthrough album 2003's The Beautiful Letdown and most successful singles 'Meant to Live' and 'Dare You to Move'. Their collaboration paid off. the results remind everyone of the old Switchfoot sound that every stan loves. So far two Europeans (one two times), four Americans, two groups, zero male artists and three female artists (one two times) earned the top spots this decade.

Red Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Well, I can tell you now that NBT's debut album probably would be my #2 album of 2015, if I re-did that list today. Guess who they would be behind? How ya doin'?
