'X' was released a year prior to 25 + '÷' is helping his other albums sell And with a more commercial sound + the willingness to actually score hits + promotion..etc Still: Ed Sheeran - X 3,200,000 Adele - 25 3,400,000

Next week will be a tough competition considering Ed is going to perform Perfect live on the X Factor and there's a chance he's going to discount it. +Rita's Anywhere sold more with SPS today (Friday) and is still 1# on iTunes; and Havana's second version that was helping its sales fell down.
BeyColombia Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 That Taylor Album is a ****ing frontload mess

Cheers Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Well..... at least #1 - #8 isn't as big as her drop in Italy (#3 - #26)
KillingYourCareer Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Quote 4. Little Mix - Glory Days | 300k (709k total) They get bigger with every era omg.
Rentboy Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) Paloma's a trooper. Hangs in there and puts out consistently good music. Deserves her #1 glory. I think there is a case for claiming Ed is bigger than Adele in the UK. Three huge albums in a row and several huge hits is a strong case. He is outrageously popular and puts himself more out there more than Adele. Edited November 25, 2017 by Rentboy
HonourableVomit Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 YAS If she got her third consecutive #2 block I'd seethe

I think there is a case for claiming Ed is bigger than Adele in the UK. Three huge albums in a row and several huge hits is a strong case. He is outrageously popular and puts himself more out there more than Adele. Adele and Ed have both released 3 albums so far. Adele - 11 million albums sold (97% is pure sales) Ed - 7.8 million albums sold (70% is pure sales) Last albums: - 25 - 3.43M album sales (95% pure sales, streaming "sales" started counting after 7 months, so most of streams for Hello, WWWY and SML were not counted as "sales") - ÷ - 2.34M album sales (75% pure sales, streaming "sales" started counting from the day album was released) Note: In the UK - 1 streaming album sale = 1,000 streams (not 1,500 as in the US)
Rentboy Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) Im not just going by straight up sales I think thats a bit too simplistic. We know Adele wins there. But he just seems to be more omnipresent as a popular and constant force in music. But saleswise he is not dwarfed by her. I think his music generally is just as popular. I think they are each stronger with certain demographics. Adeles real sales advantage lies with older folk. She appeals to a wider age range than any other artist. Hence her sales dominance.
