Every CD purchase is one vote so their die-hard fans buy up to 10,000 copies to support their favorite members.

In each of the CDs sold there is a handshake event ticket, which is a ticket that allows you to participate in a lottery where, if you win, you can shake hands and speak to your favourite member for 15-20 seconds. In a regular AKB48 singer all of the members from both AKB and its sister groups participate, which means that for each single there are 377 members available. Also, every June they celebrate their General Election, where they divide the 90 most voted members into different groups depending on the amount of votes they've got. The 16 most voted ones are the singers of the main song of the next single, with girl #1 being the center. This pre-election single usually has insane sales, and has been the best selling single in Japan every year ever since 2011 It is true that their singles are inmense, but currently AKB48 sells around 1.1-1.2 millions per single with 377 members, while their rival group Nogizaka46 manages to sell 1 million with only 46 members Edited November 22, 2017 by MirrorcleMonster

babyforlife Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Not surprise.. Considering this is mayuyu's last single and its also really good. this song suits her perfectly
getinthezone Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Guys they release like 10 versions of a single and they have a huge freaky fanbase that buys all of their ****
brianc33710 Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Even before the SS Era, I would see all of the debuts on top of the Japanese singles chart, only to see them plummet the following week with other songs that debuted super high prior to also dropping like anchors the next week. I would hate to try and put together a year end chart for Japan, because the songs near the top for the year are likely long since forgotten.
SA*KURA Posted November 23, 2017 Author Posted November 23, 2017 (edited) Day 2: 18,813 copies (1,067,213 total) Although Japan is a very frontloaded market, AKB48 has tragic sales once the handshake ticket CDs are sold. For comparison, this is 48 group latest singles' chart run VS 46 groups singles chart run AKB48: 1-14-13-15-28 Nogizaka46: 1-3-3-9-3 Keyakizaka46: 1-2-4-7-7 Edited November 23, 2017 by MirrorcleMonster
ATRL Moderator Samson Posted November 23, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted November 23, 2017 we have stage48 stans here? that's cool to know anyway the whole process behind AKB48 is so intricate
