All top 10 peaking songs spent multiple weeks in the top 10, except *. Also Adele's SML was upgraded to a #6 peaking song, which is false - it peaked at #8.
B-Rabbit Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 (edited) I'm at a bar and people have played rockstar, Big Lie, Candy Paint, Go Flex, I Fall Apart and Congratulations in the last 45 minutes. Jesus. It's getting out of hand now. Edited October 21, 2017 by B-Rabbit

That’s why radio audience numbers can reach 200M+, while streaming numbers are around 50M at their best. It’s not wrong to say that radio friendly music isn’t what is doing well on any of the consumption charts today. Not trying to contest your point at all but just good to note here (so some aren't confused) that 200M AI is probably not 200 million different people. It could be 50M people hearing a song 4 times, 10M people hearing a song 20 times, or any other combination. Almost impossible that it's 200M unique people

So I'm not sure exactly what your point was/is, as it's well known bo metrics are not unique listeners. In in fact it's much easier for s streamer to listen to the same song multiple times by licking, than a radio listener flipping the dial or listening enough hours. Yes exactly. Not trying to make a point– I just didn't want people to get the wrong impression from his post.

Its kinda blatantly obvious at this point. Relatively speaking. She is still up there doing better than most of her peers certainly but she is not dominating in a way you'd expect. The worrying thing about that is the competition has not even been strong since her comeback and the charts are being ran by a bunch of relative nobodies. She should have these acts whipped. She avoided the Despacito domination. Yeah absolutely. Her fans are still here for her so I'm not really worried about album sales or touring, but to me main reason that the GP doesnt love the songs so far is that the melodies aren't as pretty / catchy as we are used to from Taylor But also competition isnt Important at all. Hot 100 is a songs chart and not an artist chart. Sure SIO spend 8 weeks at #2, but that doesnt really matter. Its wasnt less massive because of that Edited October 21, 2017 by simmnfierzig

And that's just not true then. If the charts always skew young, it's because young people consume more music than older people and make up vastly larger portions of the music listening public. And in 2017, the Hot 100 with its rap songs and streams *is* easily and arguably representative to what most of the music listening public listen to. Again, rock radio is essentially dead. Country radio is insular. What popular genres are not represented in streaming? If you don't see them represented in streaming, maybe they're just not as popular as you think they are. Rock radio isn't "dead." Rock includes Active Rock, Alternative, and AAA. The impressions totals have increased from 2015-7 for both Active Rock and Alternative. So more people are listening to the two those two formats. Alternative has started playing some of the Active Rock songs, and the stations have begun playing the harder Rock songs from the last 10-15 years that were big Alternative songs in their day, but didn't fit the format when Alternative went Pop. Just a few years ago Active Rock had to borrow songs from Alternative. Now Alternative borrows songs from Active Rock.
