blackbeatxx Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Adele's domination 21 is close to 15x plat too
cuneytb Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Loud is 3 platinum? I thought it would be close to diamond certification How is it not at least 5 though? WMN, Only Girl, S&M all sold over 3m and together with their sps im sure those 3 alone are all 5platinum. How don't all those sps not bring her even over 5 platinum? I'm totally shocked.

The Samsung certification counts towards it's certification, not it's SPS.
IBeMe Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 (edited) How much have 1989 and 25 sold WW with SPS? I've been diying to know this for ages now! also guys I know this is a random question but when did bb hot 100 and bb 200 start counting SPS and stuff again? thx! Edited September 21, 2017 by IBeMe
blackbeatxx Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 To think that 21 also has close to 1.5 billion streams on Spotify

brianc33710 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 @iHype. Actually Susan Boyle's The Gift (December 2010) is certified as 3XP. https://www.riaa.com/gold-platinum/?tab_active=default-award&se=susan+boyle#search_section Yes, Boyle IS over-certified (sales are 2.3-2.3 M, with virtually zero SPS), but nonetheless The Gift is 3XP. Also, the Guardians Of The Galaxy Awesome Mix, Vol. 1 is 2 M with virtually zero SPS. That's huge in today's market. I think Vol. 2 has a tiny amount of SPS with the soundtrack, but Vol. 1 had next to nothing, if anything at all.

The album sold nearly 2M and the singles sold around 13M combined (=1.3M units), so 3.3M and it would need more than 1 billion audio streams (700K units) to go 4x platinum which would be unusual for a 2010 album. With video streams she's definitely at 4M+ so it's eligible for 4x Platinum for the RIAA. And no you didn't think it was close to Diamond you just wanted to drag.

The BB 200 started counting SPS the second week of the 2015 Chart Year, as BB didn't want to derail any chances of One Direction having a #1 album the first week of the 2015 CY. I guess the Britney/Eagles debacle taught BB a lesson in at least this circumstance. As for the Hot 100, BB started counting ODS in March 2012, and non-ODS audio in very early 2013. BB added in VS the week Harlem Shake knocked Thrift Shop out of #1 in March 2013, despite TS having a nearly 2:1 lead over that week's #3 (big lead in ODS, 420k downloads, over 150 M on BB RS [incredible for a Rap song]). Since that time, BB has added other ODS sources (Apple Music, TIDAL, Amazon, Google Play, etc.) and other audio non-ODS sources (Soundcloud, Pandora, etc).
brianc33710 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 @iHype. In the text section, is there any way you could break down the sales and the SPS totals? I REALLY don't want to start a "stan war," but I would like to see the sales and SPS components broken down that led toward your estimated certifications. With the exception of Susan Boyle's The Gift, which is definitely over certified at 3XP (and released in 2010), your work looks great.
brianc33710 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 And I still say the RIAA needs a 250k Silver certification level, and designate 5XP as Emerald/Sapphire/Ruby. I doubt many, if any, upcoming albums (and only very streaming heavy songs with strong sales by today's standards) will come anywhere close to 10 M SPS. I think that Diamond should remain at 10 M SPS, but that 5XP needs a higher award using one of the semi-precious stones given above. Also, more and more albums now by somewhat significant artists are failing to reach 250k even with SPS, so they deserve some sort of recognition.

So an album being overcerfified for extra shipments or like Rihanna’s having the Samsung certification wouldn’t count since that doesn’t count in SPS. I guess labeling the categories “2x Platinum, 3x Platinum, etc” makes it seem like it’s based on certifications so I’ll probably change it to “2 Million, 3 Million, etc”. 1 hour ago, brianc33616 said: @iHype. I lot of these I compiled over a year ago before RIAA included SPS or when they just added it and few albums were certified to give a look at how some albums would be with SPS so I don’t still have the actual breakdowns of their SPS. But if you want to see a breakdown for any album then I’ll post one. And if you see an album that looks too low or too high and point it out then I’ll change it.

Thanks for the first part your thoughts was not needed because i do love Rihanna a lot and i have all her albums. Everyone who followed music in 2010 would know how HUGE the loud era was so i confused it maybe with a song by her which is close to diamond certification. 3platinum is still very low for that era though. Or 4.
