I watched Season 1 Episode 1 and I agree with your statement.  They did not have enough budget to film in HD, like you would expect.

 

Still, you start with Season 1 and grow up with the show.  It's so rewarding to see the improvements as you go along and feel a sense of "started from the bottom now we're here."

 

Plus, there are All-Stars seasons, so watching them chronologically is more convenient to understand some references.

 

But I understand why someone like you, Kathlen, who focuses on Selena Gomez and Rihanna in her signature, but has an Ariana Grande avatar instead, would start a show in its 9th season.  Some people find comfort in imbalance.

That's what I thought at first, but I ended watching all of them anyway (and some of the earlier seasons are better than S7+) 

S1's quality is literally unbearable though. S2-4 isn't that bad

Start with S2 since it gets better season after season. After watching some seasons you can watch Season 1 which is REALLY good but has a trashy production.

AS1 is the only tragic season. Then it follows S4 which isn't bad at all.
