Pretending to be a fan of someone who can outsell Taylor because you stan for someone who can't crack 150k sales in a week so that you can throw shade. Don't be a pretentious prick.

Very rude & baseless; there's no need to be negative.

Let's get back on topic: wasn't there word this song had the most expensive music video ever? How far will 420k go toward creating a positive ROI? Seems like it'll barely make a dent.

@iHype. For the streams do they only count on-demand streams like Spotify/AM? Or YouTube too? Because someone did calculations and she should be doing 75m~ US streams this week not 30.7m :chick2:

VEVO/YouTube aren't counted.

Because everythings being inflated

If anything, the streams are being deflated, by 50%....

420K in 2017s market is equal to:

552K in 2016

737K in 2015

840K in 2014

962K in 2013

1.020m in 2012

Undeniably more impressive than any of her other past leads.

But Taylor's fanbase isn't dwindling at an equally proportionate rate to the general sales decline. Things like this aren't really accurate, but it's cute I guess.

She pays for her videos out of pocket. Her label doesn't have to worry. She'll make it back on tour.

Yeah all shade aside I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this ended up being true.

Maybe i'm drunk or smt but with 30.7 mill in streams, is that only counting audio (on demand) streams? Bc Hello had 62 million streams in US first week but that was obviously including YT. But the 1.5 mill SPS figure for Hello includes all its streaming while the 730k SPS for LWYMMD clearly dont use all streaming numbers beceause Tay should'vde done like 70-80 milliin streams in all first week right? Which should put her at like 950k SPS?

Either way, very impressed by the sales i really thought itd end up with 370-380k

You definitely don't understand the point of adjusting.

Ofcourse her fanbase isn't dwindling, just less people are buying music. And there's also the fact she got 30m streams first week while SIO wasn't even available on Spotify/Apple Music/etc first week.

And the point of adjusting isn't to claim "it for sure, would've done 1.02 million in 2012".  It's to point out how much more impressive it is to do 420K in 2017 than what Shake It Off did in 2014 or WANEGBT did in 2012 given the market change since.

But it's not really more impressive because the same group of people who bought WANEGBT and SIO would have bought LWYMMD. The sales decline affects the industry on the whole but Taylor's fanbase are still buying music like it's 2010. The adjusted data doesn't reflect their change in music consumption.

Taylor's fanbase are like a lost tribe in the Amazonian rainforest. You can make statements about the progress of South America as a whole, but it doesn't necessarily apply to them.

Okay, so post examples of other songs that did within 100K of this number this year.

There is handfuls of songs the same year that did within 100K of WANEGBT and SIO.

Those of you complaining about how little 420k is in 2017 would you prefer "LWYMMD" never have come along and have Ed at #1 with 260k and still have Katy representing the top #'s for women at just over 100k?  You'd rather wait another 2-3 years for another safe Adele ballad so you can get a million sales and trash Taylors numbers in comparison.  Does not sound too fun.  But see you in 2 plus years so you can get the unrealistic numbers you crave and a song to slow dance to.

This is insane. The "sales declaning" argument burnt.

Considering 200k of those 625k sales are from streaming, that kinda helping the "streaming is winning" argument than the "sales are declining"

Imagine if she was already in streaming platforms when SIO came out :duca:

So are you saying Hello would have sold like 2M in 2012 or something.

What you're doing is similar to how movies get adjusted for inflation to compare them to recent movies on a more fair basis, BUT it's completely inaccurate. You can compare profit a song made or whatever but you cannot assume more people would have downloaded the song in preveious years.

The biggest download week for any song is Hello, from 2015 in a largely declined download market. If people WANT to buy music they will. you can't just say "The market declined by 50% so this song would have sold 50% more" :rip:

ATRL still on the "pure sales" narrative. Ya forgetting it's dying. She wouldve made the 625K if she wasnt on the streaming platforms.

Ya need to stop hiding under a rock and start seeing the real picture.
