Even when they do it for pleasure it's still likely to happen but just unplanned  straights literally can't win at sex

Back from work.

 

Whoa, this challenge is certainly... unique. I'm so glad I have tomorrow off (unusual for a Tuesday for me) so hopefully I can spend a good amount of time tonight on this. At this stage I plan on reading and watching to get the full scope but I'll also read the Wiki plot maybe so I know what sections are considered more general and what sections are the deeper cuts. At the same time, I feel like the more effort I put into this, the worse I will do, which is kinda demotivating, but I'm still gonna try nn.

 

Side thought: do y'all remember when we used to do "equivalents" in our little PH chart rankings?  The thought just randomly came to me today. I guess if I were doing my chart run so far, it'd be something like:

 

#1 Aftertaste // Firework

#1 Loch Ness // E.T.

#3 Match Without Flame // The One That Got Away

I liked this a lot. You used the constraints of the challenge to strengthen your song, which is the point of this phase. I thought the structure suited your song well, and you did that with the gradual transition from hope to hopelessness. You took some risks with your phrasing (“with eyes emerald green”) that paid off for you. I would’ve liked a more central metaphor throughout the song like the leaf/branch in the first verse. We get a new metaphor with each stanza, and they all work, but the song could’ve been stronger if it became more than the sum of its parts.

Props for doing a rap song, and I can pick up enough of a rhythm to get the feel. The lyricism felt mostly like rambling, though. We get identity crisis, Mean Girls, then acting, then prisons, then latitude and compasses. It doesn’t have a strong direction, and we’ve heard small town struggle before. You have skill, obviously, so I’d only recommend to collect all of your thoughts for a song before you write it.

Didn't see your reviews before now, but screaming at you highlighting the one lyric out of Gassy's whole song that I suggested.  Lemme claim some of that #1 credit.

 

Also, thanks for the comments on mine – this honestly helped in a big way (I understand it's basically what the others said maybe just communicated in a different way and idk if it was just my frame of mind or what but I wasn't getting it ff). I'll try to be less haphazard with future entries!

I haven't finished yet (got to page 30 and then stopped for dinner ) but that was one of the key concepts that stuck out to me tbh. If you did use that, slay! But I also hate you.

I haven’t started yet but I’m already really liking this challenge a lot! Narrative is one of my strongest points although I haven’t really included much narrative in my songs this season so far   hopefully I do well this round. I mean, anything’s better than last place, right?
