Welcome to the last round of Phase 1! This week, we're bringing you a Platinum Hit 11 original: Birthstones. The tradition of wearing birthstones is pretty recent, actually, only a few hundred years old. But birthstones are rife with symbolism and associations, so they're good for us writers. Your challenge this week is to write a song inspired by a birthstone and its symbolic associations. I've provided a list of birthstones below with some of their common symbolism. Most of these stones have a lot of mythology and legends surrounding them if want to research further.

 

Keep in mind that we'll have our first eliminations after this round. You will be scored on an average of your scores from rounds 2-4, so be sure to turn it out this week. Here are your options for this round:
