Not looking at samples - I'm looking at original pieces (which doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, you could make a million diff lists with a million diff requirements for fun lol) and "Despacito" alongside "CITW97" and "Macarena" hit #1 due to remixes. The others not included might be samples, interpolations, etc. Not anything that noteworthy, just an "ATRL stat" that the GP would never care about, but What's truly impressive is the originals entirely done by one person that manage to reach many weeks atop ("Crank Dat," "Happy").

Yeah, I thought you only meant samples. But, yes, it's an interesting stat either way.

Glad it was called-out for its lack of originality and now the song is nowhere to be seen in the iTunes 1500, unlike real respected classics like STIUTK, RITD and Radioactive. So, "Hello", "Despacito" and "We Belong Together" are among the only few mostly original tracks to spend 10+ weeks at #1. Good to know. Hello samples Lionel Richie's Hello...

Once it hit 12-13 weeks I had a feeling but my thing is don't just break it with 17 weeks might as well go 20 weeks. The game continues to be about breaking records but not about doing it with quality. Adele is the only exception. Rihanna will make Madonna's records pale in significance which is an example of the trend of the current
