So it should be close, but Lamar might just run out of weeks. assuming BB year and not calendar year. Oh thanks! So on the BB year it looks like Bruno will take it. And on the Nielsen calendar year it's too close to call between Ed/Kendrick. Edited August 11, 2017 by Fruity

If Taylor releases in October that will give her 3-4 weeks of charting for BB year-end chart and I doubt it will be enough for her to be #1 (I'm talking about SPS, in sales she will end up #1). Eminem might end up releasing in November which means he won't be on the BB200 ye chart... and usually the first weeks are heavily driven by sales, and then streaming takes over (streaming has bigger effect in the long run).
iHype. Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 The Billboard 200 Year-End chart is irrelevant and extremely inaccurate, in the grand scheme of actually showing the most popular albums of the respective year with it's tracking period. The Nielsen report which shows an actual calendar year matters more. November - December is an absolutely huge period for many albums, and not including that in the correct year makes a completely huge difference. Main example: 25 moving 8 million units in 2015, but not even charting on the 2015 Billboard 200 Year-End because their tracking period. It was inarguably by far, the biggest album of 2015 since the next closest album did 5 million less. However, under Billboard's year-end tracking period all of it's 8 million units in 2015 counted for 2016, in which it was placed #1 despite Views moving 4 million units that year and 25 moving 2 million units. Not including November/December under the correct year has made the #1 albums of the past 3 years completely incorrect. Views was the biggest album of 2016, not 25. 25 was the biggest album of 2015, not 1989. 1989 was the biggest album of 2014, not Frozen.

According to 2014 Nielsen Music Report "Frozen" was the #1 album of the year (SPS - 4,471,000 vs. 4,399,000), while "1989" was the biggest seller (3,661,000 vs. 3,527,000).

Billboard 200 was still a sales-based chart until December 2014, so if Billboard 200 was a calendar year then 1989 would've placed #1.
