What about Hello?

Hello only lasted 26 weeks and fell off the chart because of a different recurrent rule. I believe that if a song is below #50 on the Hot 100 after 20 weeks it goes recurrent. I think that rule has been around for quite some time. Hello was number 36 on the hot 100 after 26 weeks and then was kicked outside the top 50 and thus out of the hot 100 the next week. This was because ~20 new songs (some by Prince and the rest from Lemonade's debut week) all entered the top 50 that week. I'm not sure how long Hello would have lasted without that odd occurrence of new songs happening but it likely still wouldn't have made it much longer (and definitely not to 52 weeks) because it simply had too many points in its first couple weeks charting to have much longevity.

I don't care if it breaks  the record. I'm just focusing on WT going #1.

In US Radio we trust

One Sweet Day's record could be saved if US Radio drops Despacito fast. DJ Khaled could also discount the song in 2 weeks.

@simmnfierzig are these predictions taking into account the expect boost Despacito is expected to get after news of it reaching 3 billion YT views?

Of course not.

And I don't expect there to be a noticeable boost anyway

Finally that top 5 is finally torn apart for good.

Am I the only one who likes the 52 week rule? It keeps the charts fresh.

Well that's another issue I think there should be more recurrency rules about :gaycat3:

Something will be done about that.

at the point every other song spends thri5y weeks in 5he 5op ten, and thst seeks to be getting closer and closer, the rules will change. Guaranteed.

I don't see any possible rule change that makes the tiniest bit of sense that would shorten runs in the top 10.

Was it being the most streamed song on Spotify not a noticeable boost? :eli:

What?

When it was announced as the most streamed song ever on Spotify, it had big effects on iTunes UK and US..you wont expect that when it becomes the most viewed music video ever and first to 3 billion views?

Bodak Yellow will be a future #1 contender :duca:
