CaptainMusic Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) WTF Drake hasn't even sold 400K? He did 800K in sales first week just last year Edited July 5, 2017 by CaptainMusic
Achilles. Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 The way that this completely obliterates ATRL's good ol' "country audiences buy albums" argument.
blackbeatxx Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 We rock fans are the ones still buying albums. I use spotify but i support those who deserve and a luxurious Vinyl is nice to have at home

Émotif Fool Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Didn't know Scars to Your Beautiful and I Feel It Coming were that HUGE on radio TWIL will probs top the year end list

The album sales are tragic with only 2 albums selling +500k, compared to last year where there was 3 albums selling +1M Last year there was not so much 500k selling albums. This year is shaping up to be better than the last one. Bruno and "Moana" will get there next week. Metallica, Chris Stapleton and maybe even "Trolls" could reach that milestone. Plus, Eminem and Taylor are releasing this year too so that makes two another albums basically selling one million this year.

I'd be curious to know the demographics of those buying vinyls.

I mean look at the top 10 of year so far; Beatles, Marley, Amy... classic or classic leaning rock, soul, some pop. only physical i buy since a couple of years is Vinyl because they look great on the wall and is something more than just a lil plastic disc
alexanderao Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 A few notes looking back at this - HUMBLE. will probably be the most-streamed song of the year - No idea how Swang did so well on YouTube - Bounce Back had sneaky good longevity

According to BAM physical sales down -2.1% when Soundscan reported -17.0% change. Of course Nielsen is right because they recalculate collected reports using statistical tools (something like election poll). BuzzAngle uses raw data so if they start including new POS (point-of-sales), calculated change is completely bogus. Edited July 9, 2017 by popmusic

According to Nielsen ~10% of all US POS doesn't report complete sales data. If we talk about vinyl sales, BAM numbers are underestimated in ~50% (they wrote that in year-end report). Using weighting factors is ok if you use it properly.
