its not "rihanna's impact"...jay z secured the same deal for her that he already had on his last album

but unlike her...he still opened up with 528k in real sales and did 1 million in pure sales...which we're will still waiting for anti to do over a year later

It's obviously platinum through the Sprint deal, like ANTI was through the Samsung deal.

It's not cheating..you just have to know how to work the system.

you guys call it cheating, I call it SMART.

RIAA's certification is based on shipment(+ official download and streaming), they're not based on real sales.

ATRL still don't understand after all those years.. lol

and yes, they do audits before certification.

Did he do 1.5 B streams on Tidal?

Or was it on free downloads or something like that? I'm trying to understand, I don't consider that as cheating whatever he did anyway since RIAA has it rules

He gave away 1M copies, which is only eligible for the charts because he partnered with a big corporation. RIAA doesn't count illegal downloads for anyone else, so it really is cheating the system and a desperate attempt to make the era look successful as quickly as possible.

It's time to clean up the charts and Nielsen needs to cut TIDAL while they're at it.

How? I understand that he's done a lot for the music industry and is a rap icon and everything. I'm not trying to discredit him from that. And maybe I'm a bit too far removed from the rap genre to really fully understand his impact, but it just seems like nowadays, he gets more press for being married to Beyoncé than for his own career. I know people don't only know him as "the guy that married Beyoncé," but he doesn't get nearly as much attention for his actual music career anymore, which is unfortunate because he is a rap icon and I think musicians should be more known for their music than for their celebrity status.

JayZ has more musical impact than literally most artists of our generation including Adele, Taylor, Gaga etc...

And his album was being talked about everywhere since it dropped.

Oh and next week, he'll probably outsell most people despite giving his album for free.

Not to mention, Live Nation just signed him to a $150M touring contract.

This certification is laughable :ahh:

All certifications are tbh but JayZ is an undeniable music legend who just got inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

Yeah, like we are supposed to believe he get 1.5 billion streams on an album exclusively available to one streaming platform, a platform that isn't in the top ten largest streaming platforms overall.

The Carters are a complete fraud.

Okay, why are y'all pretending you can't read? :skull: He did a nearly quarter billion dollar deal with Sprint for Tidal and also had exclusive downloads via Sprint with his album; it's clearly from that and not Tidal streams. All of his albums since 2006 with the exception of Watch The Throne opened with over 500k sales, so he can clearly go plat with ease with or without corporate deals.

what are you even talking about? lol

RIAA doesn't count illegal download, but only official download that pay royalty.

his free download won't be counted in nielsen. so?

RIAA has been based on shipment since the beginning. which is why there's differences in soundscan and RIAA.

some even have few millions difference because of club copies and freebies.

I don't know why people are saying "Rihanna's impact" when they used JayZ to justify her certifications last year :deadbanana3:

Sis it's only on Tidal, and not all Tidal users have access to it, because of the Sprint deal. And if it had been a Spotify exclusive, it would also have been impossible to reach 1m equivalents in a week.

I did. maybe you should.

like we don't know how much are from free download, and those are not eligible for the "charts". but only for RIAA.

and his numbers are based on legal download, not illegal, so there's no such thing as cheating.

and his certification has nothing to do with nielsen soundscan and billboard.

RIAA is not part of them. lol

Just sitting back and taking note of them. :celestial5: Rihanna is just as guilty of "cheating" (according to them) as Jay, but, since he is married to Beyoncé and affiliated with Tidal, this is just beyond and totally scamming the system! They're so ridiculous and transparent. :cm:

No that's not how it works at all. Sprint customers had to redeem the album & Sprint has to provide reciepts for transactions. It's nothing like illegal downloading at all. Literally no different than stans doing gofundme's gifting their favs album :deadbanana3:

Jay doesn't need this & he'll reach platinum in pure sales eventually anyway... :ace:

If voucher albums shouldn't be counted then neither should tour bundles or discounted albums sold.

Last time I said he and Beyoncé control the music industry, someone told me I'm exaggerating. Oh well....
