If she releases August 25 and debuts at number one, Despacito would tie the record (assuming it doesn't fall from #1 before she releases).

The song debuted at #9 and went on to spend 32 consecutive weeks inside the top 10. I totally forget about "Closer" Thanks though.

tle2000 Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I bet "Despacito" will have a 69 cents discount on its 16th and 17th week. Scooter Braun might try to schedule Bieber and Luis to make a Today Show performance and/or a VMA Awards performance to boost sales too. There are plenty of ways to get that elusive 17th week at #1. Even Taylor could not beat Despacito for #1 if Bieber's team decide that this record is important enough to break.

Green Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Fonsi and Daddy Yankee can perform the song without Bieber at the VMA's. They don't need Bieber

However, on Country radio, female's representations have increased in the last 18 months. While the women, who contribute equally to the song, are only "featured" is beyond my understanding. But, nonetheless, women are heard more frequently on the format's affiliates, and are seen more near the top of the chart.

Mattyboy Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Despacito seems like it will break Mariah's record.. We've seen a song every year come dangerously close, but I can't see any other song getting in its way this time.

A song always comes around to steal the show.
QueenofCopyPaste Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 French Montana album on July 14. Unforgettable has chance for Top 5? @simmnfierzig
Hurem Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Despite getting red updates for 12 hours, Despacito still has a 45% lead over #2. With another version of the song at #15.
