Wait, Despacito has only been #1 for 8 weeks? I thought it was approaching Mariah's record by now :skull:

You would think so, with the way people in here talk about the record being in danger.

9th and 10th week is secured. It is indeed in danger. It depends on how early/late Taylor will release

It's definitely not in danger. When Despacito is on week 15, it will be in danger. Until then, no one should be worried. Several songs have gotten to 12 weeks this past year, it's not even hard anymore.

So do you think Despacito will stop at 12 weeks? Only 3 weeks more for that..(9th week is secured)

you also said Despacito will peak starting July on radio..but why its still gaining?

I honestly thought it was somewhere in the 12-14 week range by now. That's why I clicked on this thread. I'm not following charts anymore.

'Despacito' has so many points. 'Wild Thoughts' is so not going #1. :!ohno: :cries:

I give Despacito 14 weeks at most.

I think there is severe overestimation taking place. Its not going to hold the top of radio for very long, evidenced by both the pop updates for it already slowing down without it even being #1 yet (which in itself is weird, it's not like Stay was overly strong to block it) and how quickly Wild Thoughts is flying up urban, pop and rhythmic's charts. Wild Thoughts is on track to overtake it on streaming (Other than maybe YouTube), and Despacito peaked in sales and is already dropping on that front. I don't necessarily think Wild Thoughts is the song that will dethrone Despacito, but it definitely could and if not by overtaking it then by Despacito collapsing.

I can't believe anyone is expecting another two months out of the song, based on how things are going.

Its likely going #1  tomorrow

Why? What have I done?!... Goddamn me...

O.T.: I think, that the final week of Despacito lead will be 15, 16 or 17th overall, though. :) Yes, it certainly will be close to Mariah Carey (and Boyz II Men)'s record, yes, I have to write it.

The song has a 30% lead over #2 on iTunes and has remix charting at #20. It's getting over 20M daily views on YT (not sure how many of them come from US but yeah), 1.8M daily streams on Spotify and is still getting +1M radio updates when it's already at 185M AI. :rip: How exactly are things going?

Keep in mind they can still pull a discount card which is for sure gonna secure them another week at #1 and a live performance.

Despacito isn't breaking the record. 21+ years and only a handful of songs have managed to reach the 14-week (danger zone) mark since then. Mariah and B2M are fine.

My wish:

14-15 weeks for Despacito

Reasons:

****I dont want it to break Mariah's record

****I dont want Rihanna to be inching closer to Mariah's record

****Taylor needs to debut at #1

:fonso:

if it does break the record, oh well...no complaints

So who will stop them? Cause near 14 weeks they could still be all over 500 points  (Unless Wild Thoughts its above high this numbers)

Taylor will for sure release before the VMA's so that she could perform (open or neither close the show) which will secure her #1 debut.

Ddd imagine if Despacito breaks the record + Rihanna goes #1. Mariah's wig :toofunny2:

And if Taylor debuts at #1..do you think shell hold the position the week after?

I feel like the one at #2 on her debut week will jump/return to #1 on her 2nd week...

Who knows.

Wild Thoughts is a fun song so glad for the success it's having. I only wish they cut out the DJ Khaled tag it's annoying

Things are going downward. 1.4M daily streams on Spotify is nice, yet Wild Thoughts has 1.2M with less than half the AI Despacito has, sales continue to decrease little by little each week, and radio updates are slowing down (it was getting +2M for weeks; which I don't expect it to maintain but it still is slowing down, especially on pop). The song is beginning to peak, and I don't see it taking two months to start collapsing.

The discount could definitely work though, if they decide to use it.

Don't forget that remix streams count as well, so that's additional 400k daily streams on Spotify only. Also, if you look at the 7 day difference, Despacito lost 85k streams, while Wild Thoughts lost 150k. :michael: According to Kworb, Despacito sold ~132k and Wild Thoughts sold 59k. There's quite a big gap at the moment, we'll see how things will be going for both songs in a week or two.

I have no idea if Taylor is going to release anytime soon. Perhaps in August due to the VMA's, so last week. But Despacito may be able to tie Mariah's record, however, Wild Thoughts is becoming such a force in radio, sales and streaming it may be the next number one on the Hot 100

Who knows.

She hold that spot with "Shake It Off". Then "All About That Bass" reigned for a few weeks when SIO returned for the next 2 weeks.

I'm giving Despacito 13 weeks. In 2 weeks it will peak and people will be tired of it. Then the points  will drop like 30 points per week. By then another song will catch it.. just a wild thought. ☺️
