Remember, SYA came out of nowhere to knock UF out of #1, so I can see some artist/label waiting until Despacito is more vulnerable in five to six weeks to end its #1 run. Not to mention, Despacito will likely burn out at some point, just like Macarena had fallen to #27 in Airplay by its 14th week at #1. Also, I'm wondering if Bieber is running the risk of burning himself out too with all of these features. After having the first three songs from Purpose hit #1 and chart simultaneously in the Top Five, Company went nowhere. If he's about to release an album, and he's been featured on so many songs through the summer, his own songs and/or album could underperform upon its release. I still feel closer was robbed because of those mannequin challenge videos being allowed to count. it stayed at 2 for maybe three weeks more.

Yeah, two or three more weeks at #2 would mean that only one song was keeping it from breaking the record. Since Closer had "only" 15 weeks in the Top 2, it really wasn't a challenge to OSD. UF, with 18 Top 2 weeks, was probably "robbed" by SYA's sudden surge. That, and BB's 25/52 rule that keeps UF from competing with huge but nonetheless lesser songs (PRA and Smooth) on decade, since 2000, and/or all time Hot 100 charts really piss me off. Didn't SOY have 16 Top 2 weeks? Without a viral video, he would've had 14 weeks instead of "just" 12.
