How so? She literally goes mental in the final act and leaves it ALL on that stage.

Well because I thought she was unconvincing as an aging actress who was bitter and delusional about her stardom, which is what the role is. Instead, she came across, to me, as just playing a rich, kooky lady, leaning too far into the absurd without being grounded in Norma's pain. This was especially true in Act 1. She didn't play the more dramatic scenes poorly, but I felt like I was watching a college production with how she was acting in some of the other scenes. Furthermore, it made no sense that she's supposed to have "aged out" of Hollywood and yet Nicole was looking stunning and doing splits on the stage I know this is up to direction and not all her fault, but the whole production was illogical. They could have made better choices in makeup and blocking to give the appearance that she really was "past her prime."

The racism against her is truly something else... Y'all just cannot see a Polynesian woman succeed. That's not how it works. Calling people racists because they have certain opinion about someone'a action (whether they're right or wrong) only proves you got no points.

Jamie Lloyd switched the story in its head. It's not the fact that Norma is past her prime. It's the fact that Norma is IN her prime. But because she's 46, Hollywood won't cast her in anything. The show is calling out Hollywood for it's ageism. Nicole is giving you a Norma that is at her best (except mentality), vocally in her prime, dancing still on point, looking fantastic. I mean, the amount of athleticism, endurance, commitment and motivation it requires to do what she does 8 times a week for 9 months. Just like Norma, Nicole HAS been discarded in her career. Like, Norma, Nicole was also once in the spotlight, but faded away with the help of the industry. Nicole is Norma just as much Norma is Nicole. The industry, fame etc can turn you crazy, as we've seen with so many real life examples. They've blurred the lines of when Norma starts and when Nicole ends. It's a very stripped back version and it makes you focus on the story, the lyrics, the music and the PERFORMANCES. No props or big stages, just raw emotion.

So, let's get off that high horse then, because you would be in no position to come for anyone's morals.
