Future Lover Posted Friday at 09:22 PM Posted Friday at 09:22 PM FRIDAY MIDDAY UPDATE: Mr. Zaslav, I'd like to direct your attention over to the motion picture executive suite where co-chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy have an absolute, jaw-dropping hit on their hands in Legendary's A Minecraft Movie. Let the record show. Today is $50M alone, and that includes last night's near-$11M in previews. The weekend is well north of $100M at 4,263 theaters, with some rivals seeing $130M+. It's clearly the biggest opening YTD on a 3-day basis ahead of Captain America: Brave New World's $88.8M. That also means it will be the biggest weekend of 2025 YTD for all movies, outstripping the $154M sum from February 14-16. https://deadline.com/2025/04/box-office-a-minecraft-movie-1236359247/ I was not even aware this movie was a thing that existed 1
Popular Post Brikenbur Posted Friday at 09:29 PM Popular Post Posted Friday at 09:29 PM Had no idea this movie was even out, but I guess that's what happens when you're 57-year old ATRLer like me! 16
piotrert Posted Friday at 09:33 PM Posted Friday at 09:33 PM not surprising, minecraft is biggest game in history. but from the clips i saw it genuinely looks terrible. guess it's not problem for kids 2
JustHoran Posted Friday at 09:39 PM Posted Friday at 09:39 PM I honestly thought this was going to flop but Jennifer Coolidge is in it so I'd maybe watch one day (when it's free) 1 1
Lightbringer007 Posted Friday at 09:42 PM Posted Friday at 09:42 PM even with the mixed reviews, I knew this movie was pulling numbers its literally THE popular game that nearly everyone plays across the globe 1
magazine Posted Friday at 09:45 PM Posted Friday at 09:45 PM It looks like it doesn't make sense, but mybe that's why it's good? Another day of Microsoft winning 1
stochastic Posted Friday at 09:56 PM Posted Friday at 09:56 PM I'm only happy for its commercial success so that Danielle Brooks doesn't get scapegoated for its failure and chalking it up to "woke" 10
JO1s Posted Friday at 10:01 PM Posted Friday at 10:01 PM I kept saying this is going to 1 billion+ regardless of quality.
NEUTRON Posted Friday at 10:26 PM Posted Friday at 10:26 PM I did not expect this at all. Kudos to Jack Black.
Nico Robin Posted Friday at 10:43 PM Posted Friday at 10:43 PM Just came back from watching this and it'sa great movie. A kids movie ofc but it has so many easter eggs and references for real minecraft players 1
Jude Posted Friday at 11:18 PM Posted Friday at 11:18 PM Watched it yesterday, I had a fun time. It's a 7/10 for me but the kids in the audience were clapping and cheering like it was a WWE episode. This movie is going to have a good word of mouth among its target audience, a billion might happen.
Jotham Posted Friday at 11:32 PM Posted Friday at 11:32 PM They should play this bop during the credits
Alaska. Posted Friday at 11:33 PM Posted Friday at 11:33 PM Jennifer Coolidge was the absolute highlight for me, I wish she had more scenes But the movie is kind of a mixed bag imo. I'd probably enjoy it a lot more if I understood most of the references. Very childish, but some of the absurdity made me chuckle a few times. The theater was packed though, and I was kinda gagged that people actually clapped at the end, since most of the audience was above like 15 years of age
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted yesterday at 12:04 AM Posted yesterday at 12:04 AM Yes Jennifer Coolidge yes hit and I'm actually headed to the theater to watch it
