Lady Gaga Fans Revolt Over Insanely High Concert Ticket Prices

 

Another day, another concert tour that fans are saying is ruined by Live Nation Entertainment.

 

Tickets just went on sale for Lady Gaga's highly anticipated The MAYHEM Ball tour, and the prices (and price gouging) are sending Little Monsters everywhere into meltdown mode.

 

Fans are assuming the high prices are because of what is referred to as dynamic pricing, a system that allows companies to raise prices in real-time based on demand. In addition to dynamic pricing, bots, fraudsters, and resellers can contribute to the astronomical ticket prices, costing fans more than just a pretty penny.

 

In 2023, Taylor Swift's Eras tour tickets could reach anywhere from $11,000 to $22,500. The BeyHive didn't fare much better, with Beyoncé's Renaissance tour tickets costing fans tens of thousands of dollars as well. And that's not even including the hundreds of dollars of fees ticketing companies put on top of the already shockingly expensive price for their seats.

 

Ticketmaster told The Daily Beast in a statement: "Ticketmaster does not have surge pricing or dynamic algorithms to adjust ticket prices. Tickets were priced in advance of the sale and set at the individual seat level."

 

On Monday, the Citi presale tickets for Gaga's tour went live, so now it's time for Little Monsters to empty out their wallets and fork over thousands of dollars to see their beloved pop diva perform all their favorite songs from her new album, Mayhem.

 

And let's just say they aren't happy about it, going so far as to, in jest, riff on Luigi Mangione with their memes.

The blatant fake news there about Taylor Swift. The tickets costing thousands of dollars were all resale tickets. Sure, there were VIP tickets costing close to a thousand dollars, but a thousand dollars is far from 22k. 

 

It had nothing to do with dynamic pricing.

I understand why people ultimately end up paying because they don't want to miss out on seeing their faves but I really wish more artists fans would revolt against it. 
 

The increased price in ticket sales is awful.

Dynamic pricing is nightmarish. They are right to complain, more attention needs to be brought to this.

But then again, if people keeping paying +$1000 for concert tickets, it's never gonna change. You won't die if you miss out on a tour.

I got priced out, just not worth it unfortunately. When you realize you could see like 3-4 indie/theater shows for the same price of her ticket (or any mainstream artist rn) it ends up feeling ridiculous. The post-covid concert bubble is about to burst though, I can feel it.

Especially at this age when millinials and gen z can barely afford rent. Saw one post saying he didn't pursue buying the ticket despite being obsessed with Gaga since her debut because that's more than their monthly salary. It's really sad.

Hence many didn't buy them. They're allowed to express their disappointment btw. Those who bought the tickets can't be blamed since they believe this might be Gaga's last tour before she settles down and start a family.

We seriously need to be getting to a point where artists are shamed for opting in to dynamic pricing. This is ****** up and Lady Gaga is already incredibly wealthy, it's not like she needs the extra money. Standard pricing is already insane these days, but dynamic pricing is just pure greed.

It's just weird behaviour to make this into a gotcha moment - does it make you feel better about Beyoncé also using dynamic pricing?

Idk why they are denying dynamic pricing when the prices definitely were going up during the presales. Mine weren't too bad but that's only because I managed to get into one of the shows early and they were still a bit pricier than I'd have liked.

I mean y'all wanted a good boxscore? Let Gaga have her 150 million grossing tour. Also Mama hasn't taken a long break and kept us fed for 17 years. Let her have her big paycheck before becoming a real MAMA. With the 6 stadium dates added we're looking at a nice 150+ million tour gross.
