Yes, AND Posted March 29 Posted March 29 41 minutes ago, CroNich said: ngl I actually hate she went the 'safe' route with this single choice, especially because she finally has the freedom to whatever she likes. Obviously I haven't heard Boy Crazy and Red Flag in full, and didn't get to hear much of Get Out of My House (DIY) other than what she teased but all three songs sound wayyyyy more interesting (and just as catchy) as this one. Its disappointing because for someone in her position, releasing a 'safe', generic single isn't going to do her any favours actually building up her fanbase again. If this song somehow becomes a hit than sure there may be some more casual listeners will tune into the album and MAYBE some of those will enjoy the whole album and become actual fans but I just feel like we can pull out countless case studies of other artists in the industry to show that using this method doesn't work in the long run. I really thought she knew better than this by now, but it appears something behind the scenes was telling her this was the right move. I HOPE I am wrong and if I am, and this song becomes a smash hit and helps propell the album and tour to greater heights I will eat my words, but I am 99% sure thats not going to be the case. I just wish she took the lessons learnt from Joyride and Delusional (which we all thought she had) and went in a different direction that actually appeals to her current fanbase and the markets of listeners and fans who actually invest in an artist and their career, instead of pandering to the 99% who couldn't give a **** who sings what song, or the career of the singer in question. So yes I am disappointed, I am a little shocked and now I am extremely nervous for this era because the messaging so far has been very confusing in terms of what she is trying to achieve sonically or artistically. I understand a song like Boy Crazy wouldn't be an overnight hit but theres something to be said about an artist trying to carve out their own lane in music and the longer term success or at least stability that brings, again I could go through countless case studies where this is the case. Anyway sorry for my rant, just woke up today feeling some type of way about this. Again I hope she proves me wrong but at this point I doubt she will, hihi sorry I am really concerned that she may be launching this album without having a hit on the hot 100.

She hasn't had a hit on the Hot 100 in years. Yall are being just a little dramatic. Let her try to get a cute little hit or two. She won't be in her 30s forever and it's smart of her to try to do this now; she's never been able to have control over this. Let her live 7

It's just weird because some eras she completely nails (A+C, Rainbow and Gag Order) in terms of vision, sound, messaging, asthetics etc.. and then the others just feel so lost and confused (Warrior and High Road). I was really hoping K6 would break the 'even numbered album' curse but now I don't think so. 1
Crazy kid Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Yeah in terms of mainstream success we need to let that go. Lets just be happy our girl keeps feeding us. I may not love all her work, but in a general sense, i am happy with whatever she decides to release. Anyways, song is a bop and will be listened to before i go out tonight x 2

bestfiction Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Yippee is catchy and pretty much classic Kesha, I actually quite like it. I think it's a grower. I agree that it might not be the best single choice to kick off the album rollout though. Still, I hope this album is gonna be fun. Delusional is the only dud so far 3
P!nk Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I'm 100% here for fun pop Kesha again. This is an inoffensive, cute little bop. It gives me Avril Lavigne (self-titled album) vibes. 3
Igirus Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) I mean it's a fun bop but it should've just been on the album and not a stand alone single. I hope she has some better material in store for us. Edited March 29 by Igirus 1 1
goldstargay Posted March 29 Posted March 29 a remix with gretchen wilson and jo dee messina would be insane 1
Green Posted March 29 Posted March 29 This is very catchy T-Pain wasn't really needed. The solo version >>>
SmittenCake Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I listened to the snippet without headphones and wasnt feeling it then listened to the song with earphones and i loved the intro it didnt click at first but now I love it. It sounds like something that should be a hit, especially among the str8s. That would be nice. Its pretty catchy and gives me 2014 vibes hihi 2
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted March 29 ATRL Moderator Posted March 29 It's giving 'You're not gonna get the song the first time you hear it. After the second and third time, you're gonna be like, 'Whoa, what is this?' I had a feeling I should wait a day or two and listen a few times before sharing my thoughts. I really wanted to love the T-Pain version, for some reason I just thought this pairing made a lot of sense. I don't dislike it, but I think his additions (namely in the first post-chorus) make things just a touch too busy. That being said, the chorus hook has toured, applied, been approved, and payed the rent in my head non-stop for the last twenty-four hours. The solo version is candy-coated trailer-princess unadulterated fun. Personality on full display with, what I consider, memorable lyrics and a vocal delivery that perfectly coincides with the song's vibe. The first time I heard the post-chorus yeah-yeahs, I thought I'd hate them, now I look forward to 'em every listen I also adore Kesha's final verse/bridge. There's something very carefree about the sparse instrumentation and the top-line's rhythm that is so satisfying. I think Joyride is still my favorite, but I'm still very much vibing and looking forward to the album 7
