Billboard Charts (June 25 - July 1, 2017)

My biggest disappointment? Disturbed's "The Sound Of Silence," which probably surprises zero people on here. TSOS is now double platinum, over 1.4 M in sales, and up to around 240 M YT views since the release of the video on 08 Dec 05 (it had some ODS too, but VS was bigger). However, because no one at radio was willing to give the song a chance, it peaked at #42. I'm not sure how a song can go 2XP in this day and age without reaching the Top 40, but Disturbed found a way to make it happen.

I really wanted "Lights" by Ellie Goulding to go #1...it had such a slow climb up the charts, but got blocked @ #2 by damn Flo-rida :grump:

Kinda the same thing with "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons...it deserved to go #1 as well after clawing its way up the Hot 100 even though it peaked @ #3. :katie:

Not to mention the #1's that got away by Rihanna had she or her collaborator promoted, or discounted their sh*t! :)

Stay, 45S, TIWYCF, LOTB being examples...

I never could figure out why Radioactive #3 stalled under Miley Cyrus' We Can't Stop #2. RA had the sales and airplay lead, and was in the Top 5 HSS. WCS did have the lead on RA in streaming, but BB curiously mentioned the streaming totals for every song in the Top 10 except RA, but BB reported RA's sales and airplay.

Not really

If you look at other multiple week #1s like Despacito they went #1 several weeks before because of humungous streaming . For example; One Dance and See You Again.

If I'm not mistaken, Born This Way, despite its #6 debut, didn't top HRS until its 6th week, the last week Gaga had at #1 on the Hot 100. And, Gaga managed to stay on top by releasing a CD single selling 24k that sixth week, obviously one of the biggest one-week totals of the 2010s. BTW didn't reach #1 on Top 40 until its 7th week, despite debuting at 14. It went 14-6-5-4-3-2-1, and I think it only spent a week there. No, I'm not "shading" Gaga. I'm just giving an example of a song that took time for radio to catch up with its other metrics.

Is Believer guaranteed to hit top 10? :duca: I'm ready for their 3rd top 10. This album deserves so much success.

Yassss Rih!! Another top 5 in the basket. WT is my song of the summer. She did that!

Happy for Selena that BL at least went top 20 but this is not the comeback we were hoping for. I wished she was coming back hard for this era after she sabotaged the charting potential of all the Revival singles but its the same release and ignore strategy. I guess I shouldn't complain, she's at least acting in the video instead of rolling around on the floor/bed/car for 4 minutes. Baby steps.

Wow Talent won:clap3:

It was so close though, if this teen masterpiece was blocked by 2 chainz I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

I hope it does! But they're pushing that horrible Thunder song instead of Believer nowadays though:rip:

Is it? I'll give it a listen then, but Lorde really slayed my expectations with this album so she deserves it.

Probably because they're tired of every hit of theirs being such a slow burner. :toofunny3: If Believer keeps its momentum it will linger for several weeks and leave Thunder to rot despite the push.

Random, but I would say of the past few years, these are my biggest chart disappointments (in terms of peak, these all should have peaked higher):

+Demi Lovato - "Cool For The Summer" (#11)

+Tove Lo - "Talking Body" (#12)

+Ellie Goulding - "Burn" (#13)

+Ellie Goulding - "On My Mind" (#13)

+Zara Larsson & MNEK - "Never Forget You" (#13)

+Ariana Grande - "One Last Time" (#13)

+Ariana Grande - "Into You" (#13)

+DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge - "You Know You Like It" (#13)

+Paramore - "Still Into You" (#24)

what are your biggest chart disappointments?

I'll never ever ever get over these. UGH. They all deserved better. Mine would be

• Drake - "Hotline Bling" (#2)

• Ariana Grande - "Problem"

• Gaga - "Bad Romance" (#2)

• Rihanna - "Don't Stop The Music" (#3)

• Gym Class Heroes - "Ass Back Home" (#11)

• Nicki Minaj - "Only" (#12)

• Nicki Minaj - "Moment 4 Life" (#13)

• Nicki Minaj - "Truffle Butter" (#14)

• Drake - "The Motto" (#14)

• Jessie J - "Price Tag" (#23)

Mess it'll be 2013 all over again :rip:  Radioactive/Believer slaying during the summer, and then Demons/Thunder smashing months later after their initial push :skull:

Lorde having a US #1 single and now a US #1 album :clap3:

I don't like Despacito at all. It doesn't sound good. I think people just like it (in the U.S.) because of Bieber?

Wild Thoughts is okay, but the only redeeming part of the song is the sample used. But in that case, why wouldn't I just listen to the original song?

Messy #'s for Katy, but what else is new?

Congrats to Lorde!

See you next week.
