Yeah social media followers and playlisting/autoplay are totally different things. 

Playlisting and autoplay gives u automatic streams, a lot of times u stream it without 'wanting" to stream, the song just need to be good enough for u not to skip it. 

And that's the case of any +100m playlisting reach song.

 

When it's about social media, it's promo. 

A post there is going to be promo, and thankfully Selena had the platform to do her thing and "win" interscope lack of playlisting/autoplay. 

But it's not the same thing AT ALL.

For example, with a social media post u'll reach 1 million people and 100k will search for it, enter spotify and search for it. Or click in a link and stream it. 

They'll have to want to stream it. 

 

When it's playlisting/autoplay, u'll reach 1 million people with a playlst/autoplay and 100k will SKIP it while others 900k will stream ur song. 

The impact is way bigger. Uncomparable. 

 

And selena social media was impactful, look how the album is winning with such lackluster push.
