Today was quite unusual on the Gulf of MEXICO coast, with their largest snowstorm possibly in 100 years.

Louisiana had its first ever blizzard warning in recorded history:

New Orleans reached 8 inches and possibly higher (breaking the previous record of 2.7 inches set in 1963):

The city of Lafayette received 10 inches, while Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Houston received 4 to 6:

Palm trees and beaches were covered -- a crazy sight!

Okay so it's time for one thing straight and two things gay: i used to live in Louisiana for a thankfully brief period of time. This isn't the kind of snow they're used to seeing. 10" isn't a lot for many people that live there.

I hope everybody is staying warm and safe.

Got 5 inches here where I'm at in Florida, was fun to get off work early and play in the snow :giraffe: though I almost spun out like 3 times trying to get home before it got too too heavy :snowman:

Most of them were unprepared as well. I knew in south Mississippi, they didn't clear the roads nor put any salt down.
