Gaurdian: Dem Senators were working to oust Biden as early as January 2024

Dean Phillips, a Minnesota congressman, announced that he would challenge Biden in the party primary, citing poll numbers and the president's age as reasons to pass on the torch to a new generation. He told the Washington Post newspaper: "We're at grave risk of another Trump presidency. I'm doing this to prevent a return of Donald Trump to the White House."

In public, Phillips was ridiculed. In private, others shared his concerns. Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, recalled receiving a call from a Democratic senator in late January or early February 2024.

"I said, 'Is there any particular reason why you called me? I'd like to know.' He said, 'You do realise, off the record, that Joe Biden is not going to be our nominee?' I was stunned. I said, 'What, how, why?' He said, 'I just was at a meeting with him with several other senators and he couldn't even function. We can't run him.'"

Sabato added that the senator in question tried to raise the issue, which angered the White House. "He was punished, as several of them were. They gave him the cold shoulder for a while. The point is that a lot of people had figured it out but they didn't care. I'm stunned that they got away with it and have produced term two for Trump and it's going to be the longest four years of our life."

I maintain his stubbornness is in large part what got us in this mess.

And I just keep wondering if we'd have a lot of this civil turmoil behind us had Trump won in 2020.

I will say this one last time. Biden not realizing he should have been a one term president is what cost this election.

Harris not invoking the 25th against Biden is what truly cost her the election and was a bad political move on herself. Would she have won a primary , probably not, does she have a duty to uphold the presidency and be Biden's second command sure. But at some point she should have stepped up like Obama/Pelosi and told him he should step down. Say what you want about Obama/Pelosi, they showed why they deserved to be leaders of the free world while Harris coward. That in itself shows why Harris should not be president.

All of this is a little too late. Now we just need to see what the next 4 years brings. But no matter what, Biden's selfishness is what cost this election, and he should be remembered as the worst US president for that reason.

That would have been a disaster... it's never been done before, and she would have to convince a majority of the cabinet to agree to it. Biden would have done everything he could to stop it. Voters would not like a VP pushing out a President unless there were extremely strong grounds for it.
