The Brutalist criticized for using AI

Thoughts?

In my opinion AI haters are so f*cking cringe. It's just a tool at the end of the day, and it's going to be an industry standard in the near future. I can't stand people who resist change and want stay stuck in the past. AI is the future. This whole outrage is so stupid :deadbanana4:

Yeah, "just a tool" that makes global warming much worse and costs water to use. What's cringe is people getting so used to it they become lazy and dumb about things they could have done themselves. Can't think of a grimmer future than people outsourcing everything to AI and other people eating all that pig slop up. Not to mention many already lack the critical thinking skills to distinguish AI generated **** from reality and it will only excarberate the rise of fascism globally. But yeah, sure, "just a tool."

Maybe AI should only be allowed for shizposting, medical research, and chores.

The planet is already cooked, and it's not because of AI, it's capitalism. Just 100 companies are responsible for 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Criticizing AI for being 'bad for the environment' feels like selective outrage. By that logic, we should be coming as well for driving, the meat industry, or even the tech industry as a whole: servers, data centers, and smartphones all require massive energy consumption. Yet, none of these get the same level of scrutiny.

The truth is, AI isn't the root of the problem. The problem is a much larger system of exploitation and greed.

Sure, planet already cooked, but AI plays a huge part in making it happen faster. Driving, meat, the tech industry at large all have way more right to exist than AI :rip: Access to mobility, food, and technology should be human rights, and agreed they shouldn't be exclusive to driving and meat but a mixture of other methods and uses such as public transport (where applicable) and alternatives to meat. But I still feel those are more justified than AI.

Agreed on greed and capitalism being the core of the problem, I never said it was all AI's fault. But when you look at it through that lens it's hard to not see how AI and everything surrounding it is an extension of it. It kills creativity. Also in this specific case why not find actors who are able to do a good Hungarian accent? Enhancing acting skills is one of the lamest use of AI I have heard of. How about hiring someone who can do the job instead? There's also no need to make up this historic figure and then AI generate his life's work. There have been actual architects whose work and life could have been told instead. Creativity does not equate AI-generating **** and then sifting through that to see what works. Incredibly sloppy and lazy, should not even qualify as actual art.

The use of AI in creative industries will be more common over time unfortunately. I even see some sort of "AI-free creation" certification or stamp happening in the future.
