Can we agree that Prue death in Charmed was the worst and saddest thing ever ?

She was everything, the best sister and the best actress. I miss her so much. Everytime I see this scene again, I want to cry.

Couldn't agree more. I've always wondered how the show would've turned out if she hadn't died. It was never the same after Shannen left.

Alyssa Milano will always be enemy number one for this, shortly before her death Shannon revealed her firing derailed her entire life and took a well paying job/food off her table. All because miss pheobe wanted to be no.1 on the calling sheet

It was much more complex than that. Even Holly stated their were no angels in the scenario.

It wouldve turned darker ala Buffy

The fact that it went the opposite way spoke a lot, freaking fairies, unicorns, mermaids, leprechauns, etc and ridiculous costumes most often than not to boost Alyssa's ego said all it wanted to say

Honey i've been on this boat since '05, its not as complex as it was said, it was basically Alyssa/ Brad vs Holly and Shannon. Alyssa felt slighted and alienated. Now was there high energy tension between all of them? Yes but it ultimately came down to me or her, and they chose Freebie

I've been around just as long. Shannon was brought on as the star of the show, but Alyssa started to become more popular with the GP and was getting endorsements and Magazine covers etc, which seemed to irk Shannon. Shannon and Holly were extremely close and it's not hard to assume a clash with Shannon meant facing off with Shannon and Holly.

Which is not to say Shannon was the bad one, Shannon was vocal at the time she didn't want Alyssa fired and Alyssa didn't ask for Shannon to be fired, but asked to leave the show, which as she was now the most popular cast member, producers didn't want to do and kept her.

I was never super into it but they tanked the show when prue got fired :sorry:

Brad Kern was the worst thing that ever happened to Charmed. He killed Prue and took the entire show to the grave. It turned into the Phoebe show. But anyway, I read a cool comment recently. Each sister had a quality of Prue by the end of the series. Paige married a cop (Prue/Andy), Phoebe became obsessed with her job (Prue), and Piper became the protector of the family (Prue).

Season 5 was probably my favorite version of Paige. She was super smart making color coded bookmarks in the book of shadows and re-arranging the kitchen cabinet ingredients for cooking and making spells. I think that was the same season she installed a magical demon alarm in the house too right? She gave off major Prue vibes — learning from the best. Then the show went completely downhill when it started introducing leprechauns, unicorns, dragons, Excalibur, etc. OMG. AND MAGIC SCHOOL? A total rip off of Hogwarts. It got sooo stupid.

I was only three when the episode aired but did viewers know she wouldn't be in season four? I know she was fired between seasons but was that revealed to viewers before the beginning of season four or was it a complete surprise when the season started?

While not disputing Shannon's (or Holly's jealousy), it didn't have a direct correlation to her firing. Egos were high on that set and the mgmt put batteries behind Alyssa's back to go on with her lawsuit. It also doesn't help that Holly was wishy washy, esp considering the situation at the hospital.

Shannon and to a more extent Constance wanted the show to go for a more darker route, serious storylines etc and Brad wanted the opposite aka more revealing outfits and PGesque to appeal to the male audience. It isn't a coincidence, all of that started happening after Shannon and Constance left. not to mention the major focus on Pheobe's love life and job

Shannon and Holly created an uncomfortable set environment for Alyssa (I'm not saying Alyssa didn't also), Alyssa decided to leave as she didn't feel she could continue to work in a hostile work environment, the producers decided to fire Shannon instead.

How does that make Shannon and Holly the Angels and Alyssa the Devil? They all contributed to the situation.

I remember being absolutely shocked and confused. I can't remember exactly "how" the news broke out because back in the day, everybody had slow dial up internet connection. It was slow as a snail. Maybe the news of Shannen's firing came out through the tabloids? I remember E! News also had an interview segment with Shannen talking about her abrupt departure. She was very salty about it. It's on YouTube. I think it was honestly all chaotic and felt super abrupt happening out of nowhere. Even the way they scripted the Season 4 premiere of her funeral made no sense. I think it was just so hard for any of us fans to fathom what the heck happened. The show runners made it even worse by not doing any kind of flashbacks. It hurt to never show Prue ever again in the series with Paige. Fans were always hopeful Shannen would return every season. It became a never ending disappointment.

Also Mermaid Phoebe was iconic how dare you!

Yes absolutely

shannon was not just a fantastic actress but she also directed some of the best episodes on Charmed including the finale of S3 which is imo the best episode of the show

It was very sad but Marissa dying in the OC was more impactful for me, the writers gave the girl such a tragic life and then had the nerve to kill her off for ratings?? :biblio: glad it backfired and s4 flopped/canceled.

Yeah . But it was inevitable, it was impossible at the time to have both Shannen and Alyssa on one show. They were seemingly toxic to each other .
