I really weep for my brothers and sisters in the Americas. We deal with the same ****...just in different languages.

Hope she literally breaks her leg or whatever.

I'm not here to defend her but a few things to consider:

1. that was probably a long time ago when BF awareness was really low

2. especially in Brazil, many here don't know about it, even now with the internet and global discussions, I literally learned about BF here on ATRL, thing of it like the n word, it's not a thing outside of the US

Blackface is a social taboo primarily in the US and other parts of the anglosphere

Historically outside of these regions, blackface is not a thing and not recognized as offensive

Oh so the smear campaign began, I see :toofunny3:

But yeah I'm afraid people in Brasil were not educated about bf until very recently, and even then only a small margin of the population will know the racist conotations that lies in doing bf.

People in Brasil have zero chills though, most of y'all would be kinda shocked with the amount of actors that would do bf, especially back in the 90's/00's. And I'm not even talking about lesser known actors in obscure projects, I'm talking about big names in blockbusters and smash soap operas.

I'm glad things have changed though, and that is not normalized anymore. And Fernanda is a smart woman so I'm sure she learned her lesson

1 - Black Face wasnt a discussion in Brazil til the last 5 years... It wasnt even a concept until now... So prople were obviously not aware 20 years ago.

2 - The humor in this clip is that even though she is the maid of the house she is the boss. Thats why she has the whip, so the comentary is not racist.

exactly. we're not proud of that. i wanna say up until the 2010s every other comedy show in brazil had a black face scene of some sort. and we're talking about a country with one of the largest black populations outside of africa.

i have no doubt fernanda would never do anything of the sort nowadays and if she sees this resurfacing she'll definitely apologize

This is from decades ago, the OP is an Emília Perez fan, an openly racist 2024 movie, this is hilarious

Blackface wasn't an discussion in Brazil until few years ago, this was a very common thing in comedy here, it didn't had the same background of blackface on US. The context doesn't make it right, nobody is proud of this, but it's pathetic to obviously trying to weaponize a serious discussion over awards.

Nobody outside of Twitter will care about some 20 years old culturally wrong video.
