A$AP Rocky's trial: Rocky turns down final prosecution plea offer of 180 days in jail

•  A$AP Rocky is accused of firing at a former friend near a Hollywood hotel in 2021. He was first arrested for the alleged shooting in April 2022 and released from police custody on a $550,000 bond.

•  He could get a maximum sentence of 24 years in prison if convicted. He has pleaded not guilty.
Deputy District Attorney Lewin told the court that he and Deputy District Attorney Przelomiec planned to ask for at least 10 to 12 years in prison if Mayers was convicted.

•  A$AP Rocky turned down a final prosecution plea offer of 180 days in jail and will face the possibility of a guilty verdict and years in prison as jury selection began at his trial on January 21st 2025.

The agreement offered to Rocky was to plead guilty to one of his two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Los Angeles County prosecutors would also recommend a seven-year suspended sentence, three years of probation and the six-month jail term, 480 hours of community service, and a 52-week anger management program.
But Rocky told a judge he respectfully declined.

•  Rocky's attorney Joe Tacopina – who repped Donald Trump in high-profile cases involving Stormy Daniels and E. Jean Carroll – revealed in court that the defense plans to call witnesses to testify that a firearm seen on a security video is a "starter pistol" that Rocky carried as a prop for security purposes. The strategy had not been aired at pretrial hearings.

•  Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold told Rocky that his fame would have no bearing on the trial. "You're not going to get any special treatment. Your status as an entertainer, your status as the significant other of Rihanna, that's not going to inure to your benefit, and it's not going to inure to your harm," he said.

•  The judge is allowing media cameras in court for the entire trial after a jury is selected.

How much did the plea deal offered tho

He is so dumb and should have taken the plea deal with all the evidence that was there he would have 100% gotten the time if this had gone to trial and they're probably in conflict about the time he should do, but he might actually get locked up:rip:

But basically the judge confirming to us that they're not officially married and she might have been called to the stand if it got to trial. What a mess I bet they've all been stressed this whole time  :deadbanana4:

EDIT: Apparently they want the relationship with Rihanna to be clear for juror selection and Rih won't be summoned to testify. What a mess either way.

I see this going down the Tory Lanez route. Refuse the plea deal and end up with 10 years behind bars.

Rihanna chose WRONG. This idiot also has prior convictions. No way he avoids jail time.

I still don't know what she saw in this loser. Dating him immediately after he got released from Swedish jail is a choice. He's a disgrace to his sons.

He's a handsome man who runs in the same circles she does in music and fashion and who she's known for a while and has Barbadian roots like she does, it would have been a perfect match if he wasn't as foolish as he is. I get why she likes him, she wanted to have kids/a family and he swooped in just at the right time I guess, but she can also do much better.

There's CCTV footage. He shot at that man. I doubt the prosecutors and the judge who ruled there's enough evidence to let this go to trial would have gone this far otherwise. What's actually concerning to me is the lack of contrition which is worrying to me and shows that he is an unrepentant and possibly dangerous person. He is lucky that man only got hit by fragments and not the actual bullet because then who knows what could have happened. But given the evidence there is, his past violent record, his arrests which include an overseas arrest, and that the victim is only asking for $25,000 in damages, he should have tried to do his level best to settle this out of court before it got to the point it has because a neutral jury just might give him time. I guess he's been lucky before as with the Sweden case and thought he might get out with little but a gunfire case isn't a normal physical brawl and that's why they're trying to negotiate with prosecutors.

all jokes aside, this man was literally shooting at people with the aim/hope of killing them.

He rejected an offer from prosecutors to plead guilty to one assault charge and serve 180 days in county jail with three years probation and a seven-year suspended prison sentence. x
