Nefertiti0 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 (edited) • A$AP Rocky is accused of firing at a former friend near a Hollywood hotel in 2021. He was first arrested for the alleged shooting in April 2022 and released from police custody on a $550,000 bond. • He could get a maximum sentence of 24 years in prison if convicted. He has pleaded not guilty. Deputy District Attorney Lewin told the court that he and Deputy District Attorney Przelomiec planned to ask for at least 10 to 12 years in prison if Mayers was convicted. • A$AP Rocky turned down a final prosecution plea offer of 180 days in jail and will face the possibility of a guilty verdict and years in prison as jury selection began at his trial on January 21st 2025. The agreement offered to Rocky was to plead guilty to one of his two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Los Angeles County prosecutors would also recommend a seven-year suspended sentence, three years of probation and the six-month jail term, 480 hours of community service, and a 52-week anger management program. But Rocky told a judge he respectfully declined. • Rocky's attorney Joe Tacopina – who repped Donald Trump in high-profile cases involving Stormy Daniels and E. Jean Carroll – revealed in court that the defense plans to call witnesses to testify that a firearm seen on a security video is a "starter pistol" that Rocky carried as a prop for security purposes. The strategy had not been aired at pretrial hearings. • Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold told Rocky that his fame would have no bearing on the trial. "You're not going to get any special treatment. Your status as an entertainer, your status as the significant other of Rihanna, that's not going to inure to your benefit, and it's not going to inure to your harm," he said. • The judge is allowing media cameras in court for the entire trial after a jury is selected. source source • On the first day of Rocky's trial, defense attorney Tacopina said publicly for the first time that Rocky admits he pulled the trigger on the firearm he was carrying that night. He said Rocky fired "2 warning shots" from his "starter gun" to break up an alleged scuffle between Relli and A$AP Illz. • The defense lawyer said the evidence will show lots of people in Rocky' inner circle knew he carried a "fake gun" to "scare off attackers" after he was the victim of prior violence and a stalker. • Tacopina said the specific gun in Rocky's hands that night was a starter pistol "prop gun" that came from the set of a music video he filmed months earlier with his superstar girlfriend Rihanna. • In the state's opening statement, prosecutors showed some of their own evidence for the first time. They introduced a 911 call in which a woman said she witnessed the "shooting" and showed a photo of a loaded 9mm gun magazine allegedly recovered from Rocky's home during a search. source Edited January 26 by Nefertiti0
KatyPrismSpirit Posted January 15 Posted January 15 If he did shoot his friend he should obviously go to jail. 2

lonnie Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) He is so dumb and should have taken the plea deal with all the evidence that was there he would have 100% gotten the time if this had gone to trial and they're probably in conflict about the time he should do, but he might actually get locked up But basically the judge confirming to us that they're not officially married and she might have been called to the stand if it got to trial. What a mess I bet they've all been stressed this whole time EDIT: Apparently they want the relationship with Rihanna to be clear for juror selection and Rih won't be summoned to testify. What a mess either way. Edited January 16 by lonnie

What a mess either way. I see this going down the Tory Lanez route. Refuse the plea deal and end up with 10 years behind bars. Rihanna chose WRONG. This idiot also has prior convictions. No way he avoids jail time. I still don't know what she saw in this loser. Dating him immediately after he got released from Swedish jail is a choice. He's a disgrace to his sons. 1

He's a disgrace to his sons. He's a handsome man who runs in the same circles she does in music and fashion and who she's known for a while and has Barbadian roots like she does, it would have been a perfect match if he wasn't as foolish as he is. I get why she likes him, she wanted to have kids/a family and he swooped in just at the right time I guess, but she can also do much better. 19 minutes ago, istan4badgalriri said: there's no evidence There's CCTV footage. He shot at that man. I doubt the prosecutors and the judge who ruled there's enough evidence to let this go to trial would have gone this far otherwise. What's actually concerning to me is the lack of contrition which is worrying to me and shows that he is an unrepentant and possibly dangerous person. He is lucky that man only got hit by fragments and not the actual bullet because then who knows what could have happened. But given the evidence there is, his past violent record, his arrests which include an overseas arrest, and that the victim is only asking for $25,000 in damages, he should have tried to do his level best to settle this out of court before it got to the point it has because a neutral jury just might give him time. I guess he's been lucky before as with the Sweden case and thought he might get out with little but a gunfire case isn't a normal physical brawl and that's why they're trying to negotiate with prosecutors.
Breathe On Moi Posted January 16 Posted January 16 all jokes aside, this man was literally shooting at people with the aim/hope of killing them. I love Ri but I don't **** with that. he can go to jail.
naval23 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Her Criminal (Rihanna's Version) is coming for R9 he deserves to be locked up if he shot them

Erotic Posted January 22 Posted January 22 A final plead deal of 180 days means they got plenty of **** on him to convict him
Nefertiti0 Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 Opening statements began Friday at the trial after a jury of 7 women and 5 men was selected over the course of three days. The proceedings began after a heated argument between the two sides over a last-minute ballistics report from the prosecution that led to the defense arguing for a trial delay. "There's no way we can proceed with this case," Rocky's lawyer Joe Tacopina told the judge. The judge refused to delay, though he offered to take Monday off while the defense seeks their own expert. source Rocky took a major risk by turning down a prosecution plea deal offer of just 6 months in jail and instead choosing to go to trial because the deal would have cost him his livelihood. "This would effectively end his career because he would lose all of his endorsement contracts, including Gucci, Puma, the Met Gala and, most important, he would not be able to tour and his career would be over." The source added, "They would have him under their thumb for over 8 years." source 1
Elusive Chanteuse Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Is his defense it's a prop gun so it can't actually kill anyone?
KatyPrismSpirit Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I wonder what the outcome will be. I think he will regret not taking the plea deal of 180 days but time will tell.
