futuresuperstar2023 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) This is a controversial topic and I know it will bring a lot of hate my way but Bey and Rihanna are the biggest black modern Pop stars. I feel like they both really excel in different areas and are both influential. Edited 9 hours ago by futuresuperstar2023
GraceRandolph Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The one who wasn't left in the 2010's decade. 1 1
Triton Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Beyonce 15-20 years ago, Beyonce now and Beyonce 15-20 years from now. 2
chaklux Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago It was Beyoncé, It is Beyonce and It will always be Beyoncé. 5
l3disko Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Rihanna hasn't been active musically in about a decade and she is slaying Beyonce in terms of daily and overall streams. In 15-20 years Beyonce could release 5+ more albums and Rihanna would still be outstreaming her with her 2000-2010s discography. now THAT is impact. 1 3
Lightbringer007 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago they both will be remembered ... like lets worry about other peoples faves 3
kimberly Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago FENTY BEAUTY > IVY PARK, SIR DAVIS, CECRED etc... BEYONCÉ's artistry > RIHANNA playlists 2 queens tho! 1
MP3 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Beyoncé is way more present and active in the cultural sphere while Rihanna is hiding somewhere
DevilsRollTheDice Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) Both are incredibly impactful legends. I think people also underplay the impact of Fenty because we all love pop music, but Rihanna made a MAJOR impact in a huge industry. As for Beyoncé, I think this website is guilty of both under and over estimating her pop culture impact. While it's true that her numbers don't give her the success of acts like Madonna, Michael, Taylor, The Beatles and don't really match her celebrity aura, the fact is she still has an incredible celebrity aura despite that fact. She's obviously beloved and respected. Beyoncé has such love from critics and the media that I'd be inclined to give it to her but Rihanna's hits are much bigger and more enduring, especially worldwide. The fact that she stays stomping Bey's streams despite essentially retiring is very impressive. Coupled with her incredibly successful brand I do think this is actually a tight one! Would still probably give the edge to Bey because she's stayed in the public eye. Edited 8 hours ago by DevilsRollTheDice
futuresuperstar2023 Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Beyonce has sold over 200 million records worldwide. Why do people keep bringing up her sales not matching her fame? Are Y'all talking about streaming?
Comedor Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Rihanna does have an impact on the cosmetics industry though, or so I have heard.

Why do people keep bringing up her sales not matching her fame? Are Y'all talking about streaming? Sis don't misconstrue me. Beyoncé's sales are impressive and huge. But people often sort her with a tier of artists whose sales and total consumption are much higher. Artists like Adele, Bieber, Drake, Brit and Rihanna all have higher total consumption, let alone the artists she is compared to. She was #7 on Billboard's 21st century artist list and the USA is by far her biggest market. Consumption/sales is just one part of celebrity but it's an enormous part. People compare Beyoncé to Michael and Madonna which is where the units don't add up, even if you adjust relative to the industry/her peers. She has other things going for her, but that's why the sales ≠ the aura. I still voted for Bey, I just think you can make a compelling case for Rihanna here. Edited 7 hours ago by DevilsRollTheDice

kataraqueen Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I think non-ironically that Rihanna's biggest contribution to pop is introducing a variety of black foundation shade ranges. Her next biggest contribution has been in the fashion industry. She really helped make the trend of inclusive models a mainstay, imo. But for music? I don't see how she's impacted anyone else's music or the industry itself for that matter. She's really always felt on-trend rather than trend-setting
king_queen Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Musically? Beyoncé. Rihanna's career is literally a testament to Beyoncé's impact Culturally? Rihanna. Fenty changed the game in every way and literally made her a billionaire overnight
Wicked Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Rihanna's influence is downplayed cause it was a net negative polarizing. Do you get all these relatable artists in Pop music without her? No. She set the tone in that regard. All those expectations of Pop artists to have certain things are forgone. lol. You know I got the sauce, you know I'm saucyyyyyy Edited 6 hours ago by Wicked 1
Maxxie Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Is Rihanna not out streaming Beyoncé despite a recent 31 track album release and halftime show?
Calvin Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Rihanna's catalogue is remembered. People love her music. She and her music has more impact. Beyoncé's dated music is already forgotten. But hey she has twitter vibes on her side 1
JonginBey Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Beyoncé. Assuming people won't get tired of Anti and Fenty Laundry by then, Rihanna's name might still hold some weight.
Xtina23 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago It was Rihanna, It is Rihanna and It will always be Rihanna. Look at Spotify for example, Rihanna is currently #12 in the world. People keep begging for more music, literally. The other is just #37 in the world on Spotify, and her latest album, released just last year is not charting. Oop! 1

dumbsparce Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago People remember songs. Death stares and hair flips are hot for a minute within the small internet bubble that never reflects the real world aka the place where you'll randomly hear 10 different Rih songs blasting from cars, your neighbour's house or the mall. 1
