In Genre Gauntlet, players must curate playlists across a series of rounds, each focusing on a different music genre. The challenge is to submit songs that best represent that genre, but the twist is that players must also try to choose an artist who has worked in multiple genres. The goal is to create a diverse, genre-crossing playlist that impresses the judges.

System:

• Genre Challenges: Each round, a new genre is selected (e.g., "Rock," "Pop," "Electronic," "Jazz," etc.), and players must submit one song from an artist who has worked in that genre.
• Artist Criteria: Players can choose any song by an artist who has worked in multiple genres, but the more varied the artist's discography is, the more points they earn. For example, picking David Bowie, who shifted between rock, pop, and experimental music, gives you an edge in versatility.
• Playlist Scoring: Songs are scored based on how well they fit the genre, but also how they showcase the artist's adaptability.
• Bonus Rounds: Some rounds could introduce specific challenges, like "Artists Who Changed Genres Mid-Career" or "Songs by Underrated Artists from Popular Genres."

 

This game is a combination of deep music knowledge and strategy. Players not only need to pick songs that fit the genre, but also select artists who have the most interesting musical diversity. It encourages a deeper dive into different genres and artists' careers.
