I still don't know why we're supposed to hate Meghan...because she's part of the royal family? Still doesn't explain why she gets a MASSIVELY disproportionate amount of hate compared to the other royals. Kate never sees this kind of hate, she's universally beloved actually, despite marrying into the family JUST like Meghan.

I can't explain everyone's reasoning, but a common opinion is that she is a hypocrite for constantly complaining about the Royal Family (there was a whole other Netflix series on this where she was openly negative about the family and the U.K), whilst still profiting from it. 

 

She continues to promote herself as "the Duchess of Sussex". Of course, that's her legal name right now, but if you hate the family/country that much and had such a terrible time, it is a little suss to continue using the title for personal gain. It comes across as disingenuous or as if she *wants* the title to make money out of it. In which case, she's no better than any other titled member of the family.

 

This new show seems harmless, but very sterile and false looking. I will be surprised if this is the kind of content people really want from her.

I find her to be a bit inauthentic and maybe even a little try hard, but at this point that applies to large swathes of the population, celebrity or not.  What's the one thing that sets her apart from the other women that married into the royal family?

 

The hatred toward her is racism.  Let's just call it what it is.

Get money… I guess. I think people just tend to scoff at these low brow money grabs cuz these people have nothing else going for them and are still riding the wake of the royals– her podcast failed, I've heard whispers Netflix regrets investing in them. 

The reality is they just aren't all that interesting. Just an example, but what they're contributing to the world isn't much better than the Kardashians. In fact at least the Kardashian brand and the beauty products they hawk are AUTHENTIC to them. Meghan is not a podcast host and she is not Martha Stewart. People don't buy it

You do know that if you don't like her (for whatever irrational reason), you can NOT consume what she creates? I am indifferent to her and I have successfully not listened to her podcast and won't watch this show -- problem solved!

 

Folks here were stanning Selena + Chef but have a major issue with this show which seems to be pretty similar in concept/tone...   and Selena also has a "wealth disparity" relative to the GP... i have to laugh

Um, Kate did receive hate from the rapid royalists (they exist ), until Meghan showed up. And now suddenly she's the golden child comparing to Meghan. UK royal tabloids is the worst kind of toxicity.
