    • The GP and stans want HAC hits such as DWAS - no dark pop.

    • Gaga doesn't have the pull anymore.

    • Her label sabotaged the single release.

As we all know, the singer has had an amazing year with her #1 single DWAS, and Joker movie. However! Things did not go as planned for her new single "Disease". Some stans even conspire that it is no longer the lead. It was everything stans wanted: dark pop, artistry, risk, etc.

What is the reason?

The GP doesn't care about credits and collaborations. They only care if they connect to a song. Disease is too loud and weird to them and that's that.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I think her best work was with RedOne(and vice versa); however, I don't know if a RedOne and Lady Gaga track will work in 2024.

I thought Disease was a slow song; perhaps they needed to speed it up more as well.

It sounds incredibly dated… at least when she does HAC it doesn't sound like shes chasing 2010 all over again.

It did well for a quick lil promo single released during the domination of her LEAD.

First two. Perhaps the third too.

Because it's a solo Lady Gaga song after 2013?

Can you guys try better with these threads. DWAS to Disease performance is actually on par with first to second single releases.

Ie, not every release has to top the charts. See ICDIWABH, which underperformed compared to Fortnite; Karma compared to Anti-Hero; etc.

Disease was not the lead, it was just a transitional/promo single for halloween.

Right, it's extremely hard to get a hit in the first place, expecting the follow up you put out in a month or two to pull the same numbers is asinine.

OT: Die With A Smile is simply too big and Disease wasn't enough to pull the GP attention away, plus while it is quintessential gaga it isn't a great song for radio.

As a stan since The Fame I must say … the song sucks and sounds extremely outdated

I knew this was gonna flop as soon as I heard it on first listen

The song is too niche to appeal to a large public, it's a great album song but not for a successful lead

Melody in the chorus was underwhelming

Because she couldn't match Blood On White Satin, the superior dark pop song released this year.

Many singles that follow mega smashes get caught in this. Flowers, As It Was, WCBF, even Adele wasn't immune after Easy On Me. Debut acts are less immune, like Sabrina/Olivia.

I remember being shocked back in the day when none of the Talk That Talk singles did great, but WFL was just such a moment for so long.

The song isnt that good plus the sound just isnt very 2024friendly.

I hope the rest of the album doesnt sound like this because we already have born this way

DWAS in the other hand is a really pleasant, simple yet effective song. The lyrics may be a bit too generic but to me is the proof that sometimes less is actually more

it just wasn't catchy or memorable. I didn't see any part of the song having viral tiktok appeal

+ her own stans admitted to having trouble remembering the lyrics
