They don't do "artist development" anymore. When someone comes to the scene with a certain type of clothing - first impressions count and it makes it that much harder to be looked upon as an artist with sides and depths to furrow - beyond a personality capable of producing anything more 'quick li'l hits'.

 

Nonetheless she had a further opportunity in the form of the parent album that put eyes on her - and that proved a let down which is a bad move when someone wants media/ press and then can't deliver the goods.

 

It sends a message that says "well, if you came to the table and couldn't give us a platform statement as to why you should stay - then please go".

 

She may have a short term future as the same Paula Abdul/ Nelly Furtado hybrid she came as. Her label may even try to expand upon that with getting her on some high profile rap features.

 

When you show your junk to straight guys upfront then the mystery goes and the gay audience isn't large enough to maintain substantial enough interest that produces No.1's on the Billboard Hot 100 - on its own.

 

Ultimately if her next album is comprised of the same low level insubstantial filler as her last, she has no future and no long term identity. I don't actually think she had the correct drive or ambition to start with.

Id say she's over but Sabrina showed you can still breakthrough after multiple flop albums. She needs better songs. And I'm not convinced she has IT but that hasn't stopped others.

Literally where is she? It seems she's constantly on tour and not doing any promo for these songs that end up flopping. I know RCA sucks but they're literally not doing anything for her.
