Ariana is great as Glinda and thats makes me wonder how she would be with a more dramatic, "serious" role. 

But thats what it does, makes me wonder. It's not possible to judge Ariana as an actress yet cuz we have so little material. 

I personally hate her acting as Cat, but its probably cuz of the direction they gave to the character that she became more and more infantilized each episode and not Ari herself tho, but i just hate it. 

And i loved her as Glinda, but it's like her dream role, and her comedy timing and stuff did even remind a (way better) Cat sometimes.. we need to see her in something totally different so we can judge.

 

On the other hand, with Gaga, we've seen her in 2 very different musicals + House of Gucci (i didn't see AHS) and she's always solid. Not always excellent, but always solid. 

So it's a more safe choice, but that may be cuz we haven't seen Ariana doing a serious role. Maybe even Wicked 2 will help, apparently it's more dramatic or something, but the ideal will be another character.

Be for real. Gaga would never do Glinda justice (she could pull an Elphaba if she played the i'm-an-outsider card).

 

I'm not sure that Ariana could be a convincing Lee though, but time will tell.

 

As for the user who used the Oscar nomination as proof, you need to be reminded that we live in a world where Gwyneth and Jennifer Lawrence have Oscars.

Gaga has to go method for the simplest roles and is still mediocre at best. She literally played herself for half of ASIB like??
 

Contrary to what some of yall are claiming, nailing a comedy role is harder than a dramatic one. With that being said, Arianas acting in WCBF>>>>>

As much as atrl will now pretend Ariana is better like they did Margot, objectively it's Gaga. Her first two award circuit runs are unmatched, remember Ari is supporting

Too soon to tell with Ariana but she was very good as Glinda (even though she leaned on Kristin Chenoweth's interpretation A LOT). Haven't seen Joker but Gaga exhibited charisma and chops in ASIB and HOG so I'm going with her for now.
