Domination Posted Tuesday at 03:32 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:32 PM Quote Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a series of major changes to the company's moderation policies and practices Tuesday, citing a shifting political and social landscape and a desire to embrace free speech. Zuckerberg said that Meta will end its fact-checking program with trusted partners and replace it with a community-driven system similar to X's Community Notes. — Beyond the end of the fact-checking program, Zuckerberg said the company will be eliminating some content policies around hot-button issues including immigration and gender, and refocus the company's automated moderation systems on what he called "high severity violations" and rely on users to report other violations. — Lastly, Zuckerberg said Meta would work with the incoming Trump administration to promote free speech around the world, though he did not detail any steps toward that goal. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/social-media/meta-ends-fact-checking-program-community-notes-x-rcna186468 Full video of this announcement on his Facebook page. In addition to the above, Dana White (UFC) has joined Metas board and the remaining content review team will be relocated from California to Texas to "eliminate bias" 1

DammnBaby Posted Tuesday at 03:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:53 PM This is why I'm not on social media. It's a cesspool and an absolute waste of time.
Trent W Posted Tuesday at 03:59 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:59 PM The only people who post in facebook are maga boomers these days and people who like conspiracy theories Instagram is the one that worries me more cause that's the standard app these days Tik tok, twitter and facebook have been rotten for a while 2
KatyPrismSpirit Posted Tuesday at 04:01 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:01 PM i mean i actually think fact checking is a good thing. Truths deserve to be acknowledged. however, they need to make sure algorithmic bias doesn't affect the way how posts are being fact checked.
Digitalism Posted Tuesday at 04:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:07 PM It's funny how ATRL struggles to understand something has shifted and it's not comming back. The 2010s are over. 1 3

Fleahive Posted Tuesday at 04:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:24 PM These people are so beyond evil and it's infuriating to watch the masses kiss their ass. The alt right love to play victim when they get called out for their lies and conspiracies and now they're being rewarded for it. This makes me sick. My Facebook is deactivated. I only have a finsta to stalk cute people but maybe I need to delete everything for good. New Year's resolutions didn't officiate until yesterday (cause Monday lol). Maybe I need to cleanse myself from all of this mess once and for all. It would be healthy to wake up and not feel the need to open social media, however, since I don't watch the news I will feel a sense of FOMO especially if it's a serious event. That's what's stopping me from committing to a social media black out. I can't be completely ignorant to what's going on. I need to get immediate news from somewhere… 3
Venice B Posted Tuesday at 04:26 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:26 PM Instagram entering their X era. Social media was a mistake.

The 2010s are over. Based on what? Most of the members I speak to here knew the brief political and cultural honeymoon with social media in the early to mid Obama era wouldn't last. At least that are older than those that turned…idk…13 or 14 when TikTok started.
getBusy Posted Tuesday at 04:51 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:51 PM Honestly it's not like the current fact checking was doing ANYTHING lol 2
