The way Taylor stomps on Beyoncé when only stats and not vibes come to play's insane! Beyoncé will never catch up to Taylor. NEVER!

Adele #12 with just four albums  :jonny5:

I'm guessing this one is based on Billboard charts (albums and singles combined) right?

seems like they created this list just to calm down a certainly fan base

Interesting what happens when things are factual and not based on Twitter vibes

The only "created" list is the subjective editorial, sis

This is just objective stats.

Cause this list makes no sense lol.

People with diamond certified albums are lower than Post Malone.

streaming era's albums have an advantage because Billboard counts points for placement on BB200 artists chart.
for example, Adele sold 3.3 million in a week, but she only received points for the placement, so she got equal amount points as the album which sold 90k in streaming era and was also #1.
so, she received points only one time for the first place, but Post Malone who let's say sold 3.3 million in half of the year got more points because every week's placement counted. they both sold the same amount except Adele got points only for one week and he got them for 30 weeks or more.

i know it doesn't make sense but it is what it is.

No shade to any artist whose position moves but see when your achievements are based on actual impact and consumption and not vibes?

:WAP:

Funny that anyone was putting so much weight into a completely subjective list that would've looked completely different with a different set of authors.

This list is based on chart performance ONLY. You're gonna sit there and say Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Morgan Wallen are better  than Lady Gaga because they performed better on a chart? Be serious.

Grown adults calling cultural impact and influence "vibes" this is such an unserious music forum lol.

Post Malone, when you appropriate your way to the top. Every day I wish Joey Badass never wrote Rockstar lol

Who said better? Better is subjective. There are a million ways to measure better and worse. That's the point. Do Taylor's 4 AOTY's make her the best? Or her first entertainer to ever win Time's POTY title? Do Gaga's multiple number 1 hits across 3 decades make her the best? Beyoncé's metacritic scores? You'll get a different answer depending who you ask. Just like Billboard's other completely subjective list. The point of this list is that it ISN'T subjective.

There are a million ways to argue "best" and absolutely none of them will ever be definitive.

Not just "a certain fan base". Billboard was getting clowned by everyone when their first list came out..

They made a new one to fix their mistakes and to be taken more seriously.

Remember:

"It's about impact and not numbers, sales or streams"…

This list is based on their performance on the billboard charts

For those of you who need reminding:

Billboard:

"If you go by the sheer numbers, Taylor would easily top this list"

"But when it comes to 21st-century greatness, no one has a longer or fuller track record than Beyoncé. It's impressive that Taylor Swift has even made it a discussion despite missing the first quarter of the period, but only Beyoncé has spent the last 25 years relentlessly pursuing excellence in every form imaginable. From albums and performances to videos and campaigns, her consistency is unmatched, with only a handful of notable missteps. Her greatness is so expansive that we ranked 100 of her best moments this century—and still had over 50 more that couldn't make the cut. Few artists, if any, can rival that legacy."

So I'm guessing this is based off single chart performance and not actual sales. That's the only way Post could be above Eminem :rip:

Streaming era artists are heavily favoured here, most notably Post Malone.

Streaming era is also lowered for bb200 multiplier to balance them out

You all really ruling out how massive both Posty and Morgan's runs are.

Both Morgan albums are easily the biggest albums in the US in the last 9 years.

And regarding Posty among 21st century artists Im pretty sure only Taylor & Drake have a 3rd biggest album bigger than Stoney (his 3rd biggest).

And that's ignoring singles performance where both have crazy hits like Last Night/Circles/I Had Some Help/Sunflower

Well yeah, cause other than sales and streaming (mind you ttpd is doing bad on spotify as we speak), taylor doesnt have any cultural impact, is not a good dancer, singer, her songwriting is good at best and been critically panned lately

thats why she loves to share these kind of stats cause thats all she got on her career, she probably threatened the Billboard staff as she always do with the media

Well yeah, Billboard only do cumulative units for YE stats.

Otherwise is unfair to compare due to industry trends. Nowadays album sales tank compared con before and single sales are massivelt bigger

Regarding Posty tho for example he has the best selling song of all time and the most diamond hits ever.

But everyone knows Taylor tops the lists when it comes to sales/chart. Billboards greatest pop star list wasn't based on the numbers and everyone knew that so I'm not sure why you're all acting like this is some kind of 'gotcha' moment for Beyoncé.

It's not a "gotcha" for Beyoncé (who I respect very deeply), it's a gotcha for delusional stans who acted like that list was definitive in any way. It was just an opinion piece that would look different with different writers. Even these specific writers said they almost gave it to Taylor for subjective vibes but then said she lost 1/5 of the decade by debuting in 2006.
