Okay but can they innovate new ways of exploiting workers like we can? Doubtful.

It'd also be amazing if they could stop eating dog's meat

@BionicWooHoo @Headlock@Lightbringer007 @The Prophecy @DirtyPony  @SmittenCake @LITprobably don't know what I'm talking about:

Dog Meat Festival
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_Meat_Festival?wprov=sfla1

They were asked multiple times to end this slaughter, there are some petitions for those who care enough about dogs lives.

This ain't Trump's Springfield cats fake news, it's sadly a depressing real fact.

If you ever owned a dog, you wouldn't want to watch videos of how they kill dogs in order to serve their meat at the festival.

Dogs get violently beaten on the head with a heavy bar, they watch their similar get killed right in front of them, they shake for fear so hard that they cannot stand.

Kids, even if it can be tragic, It's usually a pretty smart move being informed and aware of what's going on, especially if you care about animals, environment and the direction this planet is heading to.

Definitely a brave act. Great to know the man turned out fine at the end. It could have ended up so much worse.

Thank god he didn't live in a place like *re-reads* the state of North Dakota in hindsight.

Huh? We don't know who that was or what happened to him, last time I checked.

The point is that referencing "tank man" is incendiary and itself silly of a gotcha because the man literally was not run over as people oddly believe.

Of course students did die in the overall protests - not from something as incendiary as a claim like "being ran over by a tank" - but from being fired on by military.

Which of course is nothing unknown to the reality of American history:

This exchange embodying the obvious fact that none of this has anything to do with modern medical innovation in dentistry. :deadbanana2:

All your comebacks essentially are "The US is a sh*thole country", and I completely agree. I don't understand why you both assume I'm an America stan. I'm not. I f*cking hate the US. :biblio:

Nothing of that changes that China is an authoritarian dictatorship. The government suppresses freedom of speech, censors dissenting opinions, and controls nearly every aspect of its citizens lives. From mass surveillance to the current repression and genocide of minority groups like the Uyghurs.

Would you rather live under an authoritarian regime where your voice holds no value and the ruling party can act without any opposition? :celestial5:

Also, when I think of a functional modern democracy, the archaic and deeply flawed system of the US certainly isn't what comes to mind.

Why are we acting like America's deeply flawed and archaic system isn't a product of giving a voice to racist and homophobic white men? Why are we acting like democracy doesn't similarly enable racist xenophobes outside of America as well? Was Brexit not similarly decided based on a democratic process?

b-B-b-B aUthOriTaRiAn ReGiMe!!! Isn't it ironic that this aUthOriTaRiAn ReGiMe is actually investing in lifting millions out of poverty instead of pushing millions of its citizens further into slave wages? Isn't it ironic that this aUthOriTaRiAn ReGiMe is actually creating technology as evidenced by OP that will improve the lives of its citizens instead of enabling anti-science religious nutjobs with a voice?

Ok, tankie. If you want to romanticize authoritarian regimes where you have no voice and the government controls every aspect of your life in a dystopian way, go ahead. But don't expect anyone with common sense to agree.:celestial5:

I wonder who paid for this Israeli tank?

F*ck Israel!

Also, it's so ironic that in one post you're defending China so intensely, and right in the next, you're dragging Israel, as both countries are oppressive and genocidal

China is currently committing a genocide against the Uyghur muslims, forcing them into concentration camps, sterilizing women, and erasing their culture. On top of that they've occupied Tibet for decades, suppressing Tibetan identity, destroying cultural places, and silencing any calls for independence. How can you justify this?

…seriously?

There are many great things about China but their human rights and working conditions have never been at the top of that list. :coffee2:

The way these threads always go the same way.

- Some tweet (it's always a tweet, never an article) about China doing something objectively good.

- "Well, go be QUEEAH in China!!!"

- Someone posts Jin Xing (there are no other queer people in China, apparently)

- "Well, do those Chinam*n have democracy???"

- A photo of high-speed rail.

- "Authoritarian!!1!"

- "Well, some of us WANT to live in a police state!"

- " Tiananmen TANKS!!!!"

All we're missing is "Winnie the Pooh" and Hong Kong to hit Chinathread bingo. :dies:

I mean, just because you call something an authoritarian regime doesn't make it so. Have you ever actually been to China? Lived in China? Visited China? Have family in China? I doubt it. Its very clear to me that you choose to cherry pick what points to argue while simultaneously choosing to willfully ignore the various shortcoming of democracies around the world.

Furthermore, it actually isn't ironic at all because its clear to me that you are simply consuming Western Sinophobic propaganda. Next you'll be telling me I should trust the New York Times LMAO.

Yes, I've visited China once :celestial5:

You can't even deny the fact that China is committing a genocide against the Uyghur and has occupied Tibet. Additionally, it has systematically removed freedoms in Hong Kong and continues to do aggressive claims over Taiwan and its sovereignty.

Both Israel and China are oppressive states that engage in genocide, oppressing and killing vulnerable populations.

So basically you had a layover in Shanghai and now you're an expert on the internet on how dystopian it is to live in China, LMAO, give me a break. Come talk to me when you've actually lived there and continue to have family there.

and yet Israel is the "only democracy in the Middle East." This really isn't the gotcha moment you think it is. Like the fact that you acknowledge that democracies like the US and Israel are committing human rights offenses and genocide clearly demonstrates that the mode of governance really isn't the issue here. Like do you not see the disconnect? You're saying communism causes human rights offenses when clearly democracies also cause human rights offenses and genocide. I'm not even going to further address the HK (which was illegally annexed by the British) and Taiwan nonsense you're spouting because this is already going way off-topic on a thread celebrating China's scientific accomplishments.

Why is this thread turning about the United States? Shouldn't we be happy for China? Why is everything on this website about the US like seriously. It's annoying.

Anyway, this is a good thing. Especially since it could be the basis of use for other issues like skin and bone.

1. I absolutely despise Israel and the US, as neither can truly be considered modern, functional democracies. Both countries perpetuate systemic oppression and disregard for human rights.

2. I stand firmly against any regime that encourages oppression. It's worth noting that your response conveniently overlooked the the Uyghurs and Tibet, both of whom suffer under China's brutal policies.

3. I'm not going off-topic. I simply provided examples of China's oppression and imperialism. It seems to be A LOT of example that show China as a brutal, controlling dystopia.

4. I've never brought up capitalism or debated which system is better or worse. My focus is specifically on addressing China's actions and policies.

1. Do you similarly express similar outrage over Americans eating cows that are revered in India and are also intelligent and affectionate animals?
2. Do you actually think the majority of Chinese people eat dog meat as a common practice? Are you dense?
