"I heard somewhere, from someone, that there are no contracts. Austin Butler hasn't signed anything to play Patrick Bateman. Luca doesn't have a deal. Scott Burns, who is supposed to write the screenplay, doesn't have a deal either. From various sources that I have, this is just fake news that was put out there to see how an audience is going to react."

Good. We don't need another movie to empower the incels.

I swear I was told American Psycho was written by a woman, so this was a bit enlightening.

That being said, I feel like this does not need to happen. It's giving filmtwt fodder.

One less Austin Butler movie is always a win. :giraffe:

The author of the book is a gay man, and the director / screenwriter of the Christian Bale film is a woman!

Also a lot of Luca's artistic choices seem geared towards social media crowd :dies:

This isn't the first time. Dario Argento, Asia Argento, and Daria Nicolodi all 3 dragged Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria remake, but critics and audiences still loved it so I wouldn't let this stop him.

What is going on in the right pic on the first tweet? Is that a screenshot from a video game?

Not tha the original Suspira isn't great, but I consider the remake to be a near-masterpiece. That being said, the original was very thin on plot and subtext so there was a thematic richness to pull out of doing a remake. I can't say the same for a famously textual piece like American Psycho.

I would much prefer to see Luca's "Separate Rooms" with Josh O'Connor and Lea Seydoux than this so I hope it isn't happening or will be filmed after.

Hollywood is so tired, they can't think of an original film? American Psycho is not even that old and the movie is fine as it is
