DanyelP23 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 "I heard somewhere, from someone, that there are no contracts. Austin Butler hasn't signed anything to play Patrick Bateman. Luca doesn't have a deal. Scott Burns, who is supposed to write the screenplay, doesn't have a deal either. From various sources that I have, this is just fake news that was put out there to see how an audience is going to react." ""[I believe] this is just fake news that was put out there to see how an audience is going to react. If it does exist, I am not involved, I have nothing to do with this.""
Radical Pessimism Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Good. We don't need another movie to empower the incels. 2 1
Valgorie Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I swear I was told American Psycho was written by a woman, so this was a bit enlightening. That being said, I feel like this does not need to happen. It's giving filmtwt fodder.

Also a lot of Luca's artistic choices seem geared towards social media crowd
Aristede Posted January 7 Posted January 7 This isn't the first time. Dario Argento, Asia Argento, and Daria Nicolodi all 3 dragged Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria remake, but critics and audiences still loved it so I wouldn't let this stop him.
Khal Posted January 7 Posted January 7 What is going on in the right pic on the first tweet? Is that a screenshot from a video game?

Not tha the original Suspira isn't great, but I consider the remake to be a near-masterpiece. That being said, the original was very thin on plot and subtext so there was a thematic richness to pull out of doing a remake. I can't say the same for a famously textual piece like American Psycho. I would much prefer to see Luca's "Separate Rooms" with Josh O'Connor and Lea Seydoux than this so I hope it isn't happening or will be filmed after.
John Slayne Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Hollywood is so tired, they can't think of an original film? American Psycho is not even that old and the movie is fine as it is
