Some people didn't even knew/remembered that Torres is Montenegro's daughter until recently as if her mother would have any kind of power or influence in this industry . People can be so dense here. Fernanda won because she's f*cking talented and her performance in I'm Still Here is immaculate.

That being said I'm tired of anglo critics mostly awarding Latam movies when they are related to the dictatorships. It hurts the industry a bit because big budgets are mostly given to those type of movies and a lot of other stories are not told because of the lack of financing. these two are very well connected. even though she's a nepo baby the movie financing is so low that there's only one shot in your life to get awarded. not even close because they're not talented, they're so ******* talented but there's no opportunities for them around the world. i am hopeful that this might help latam out to acknowledge there's demand to great movies here too. I'm still here is one of the biggest box offices of all time in Brazil. this movie and central do brasil were only possible because Walter Salles is an heir of Unibanco.

Montenegro is arguably the most acclaimed actress of all time here. Torres building a distinguishable career for herself is impressive when you consider how big the shadow casted by her mother is. Movimento Perpétuo Posted Monday at 10:07 PM Posted Monday at 10:07 PM As if Fernanda Montenegro & Fernanda Torres have the same connections as Tilda Swinton, Pamela Anderson, Kate Winslet and f****** Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman in Hollywood

Under that context, people are usually excited to see talent from their home country be acknowledged outside of their borders. See how excited indians were online after RRR was nominated for Oscars 2023. If you pay attention to the discourse surrounding I'm Still Here, you'll notice that many spanish-speaking latinos from South America are passionate about this film as well, not just brazilians. People from countries affected by the Operation Condor are reasonating with the story. Edited Monday at 10:19 PM by Scars 2
