LuneMon Posted Monday at 02:02 AM Posted Monday at 02:02 AM The worst part is that even if the embargo were lifted, the situation for the average cuban would likely not improve significantly. Instead, it could empower the regime and its military, increasing their wealth and control over the population. This would likely lead to further suppression of dissent and a worsening of the humanitarian crisis. It's understandable why many latinos criticize americans and their ignorant opinions on twitter. Even left-leaning latin american politicians don't like to be associated with Diaz-Canel, Maduro or Ortega during campaigns/elections, because there's a widespread consensus across the region that these regimes are AWFUL. 2

katykater Posted Monday at 03:26 AM Posted Monday at 03:26 AM Cuba could flop like what happened to Assad's Syria because russia can't help them. russia has sunk way too deep the war in Ukraine and in last week the russians saw butter prices increase 80% in 1 week time. They are paying 4 times the price the Americans are paying for the butter. The problem is that russians earn 300, 400 or 500 dollar per month versus American household income can be above 300k dollar per year. China is also in deep economic problems and can stop any help/assistance to the countries they would love the colonize in a smart less obvious way. 2

Kamil24 Posted Monday at 04:52 PM Posted Monday at 04:52 PM This is so sad. I went to Havana (by Camila Cabello) in 2022. Some of the architecture is insane, it looks like it was one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Everything is now falling apart though, it was very surreal to see because there is SO MUCH there, and it is full of people, but it is collapsing and crumbling literally. Hoping things will improve after communism.
