What is it with this site's strange random obsession with trashing pitbulls? 
 

EDIT: Not sure why you all are downvoting me.  I don't have much of an opinion on pitbulls except that people shouldn't be breeding them. I currently live with roommates that have a couple of pitbull mixes and they are sweet, but I would never get down in their faces. 
 

I just think it's random for a site like this to have so many topics about them.

controversial take but Pitbulls ARE ALSO THE PROBLEM. We always say humans should train their dogs better but sometimes u cant train nature out of an animal and BULLY BREEDS were LITERALLY made to fight and kill. There needs to be a mass banning of this breed. I DONT GIVE A F if your pitbull is nice. The breed needs to be used only by law enforcements etc. It needs to be banned as a pet breed. NOW. Let the current dogs and owners keep the ones they already have but make sure that selling and breeding them is illegal and dont allow another generation of owners to have new ones. THATS IT

Horrible. People should just accept that dogs have been bred to have certain traits and instincts, and Pitbulls are made for fighting. No owner can "train" these instincts away.

 

I feel bad for Pitbulls because humans that have created them like this, but these dogs should not be owned, at least not by the average dog owner. They should go in the same category as wild animals tbh.

This is extremely sad and the father needs to be locked up IMMEDIATELY. Mother should be investigated too, but it seems like she didn't have any involvement. 

 

I looked into facts about pitbulls and to be honest it does seem there is a bit to their story. Perhaps they should be regulated in some way? But after reading more into them, they're the most populous dog breed in the US with ~18 million, and for 2024 years there were about 284 recorded incidents of Pitbull bites, attacks or deaths (it was kinda hard to get a solid number though, but all were in the 100s at most). That's… such a minuscule number in the bigger picture of 18 million. 

 

Pitbulls clearly make up most of the violent dog attacks at about 65%, but they're also apparently some of the most likely to be heavily abused and along with being the most populous dog breed— that's helping to inflate their numbers. It doesn't explain the whole story, but it's certainly adding to it. Should we ban Ford F-Series trucks in the US because they were disproportionately responsible for ~11,000 fatal crashes in the US from 2015-2020? Obviously not.

 

But obviously there is some type of regulation that needs to happen with these dogs, such as possibly not letting them into houses with small children or into public dog parks. However, what's ****ing weird in this thread is users asking to mass murder 18 million animals by "beating all shitbulls to death".

 

I don't really care if you're just talking about a dog breed, you sound ****ing weird and crazy for saying that. I don't really care to engage in whether or not there is or isn't anti-Pitbull propaganda going on or not, but saying things like that without a hint of nuance or thought is exactly what's wrong with our reactionary society today. At the very least, I hope people thinking that way limit their thinking to dog breeds, but somehow I doubt that's the case.
