I guess now that mediocrity is topping the charts with people who can't stay on key live, and have to rely on autotune and lip syncing, I can go back to listening to subpar indie music by OF models without being shamed about it s:wan:

I love how this video looks like a promo of his OF but also promo of a place he recorded it in

Now that's a strong QFTC™️. :clap3:This is also something that bothered me with this era.

One of Beyoncé's main missions with "COWBOY CARTER" was to celebrate and highlight the black roots of country music, honouring black talent from the genre's past and present who had gone forgotten and overlooked due to systemic racism within the industry. So it truly felt odd that the two most prominent collaborators were white artists who've been criticized for culture vulture behaviour. Nothing against Post and Miley themselves, whom I otherwise really enjoy as artists and seem to be decent people all things considered. But it made for contradicting optics, especially when besides Linda Martell and Willie Jones (arguably Shaboozey too, but it took me until "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" for him to really make an impression on me), none of the other black country collaborators got as prominent roles in the album. I loved the intention with Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, and Tiera Kennedy all being featured on "BLACKBIIRD", but they deserved individual appearances on the album as well.

I would be intrigued to read a counterargument defending this choice. Doesn't help I find "LEVII'S JEANS" to be an absolute stinker.

1. Both Miley and Post have started in different genres and later moved to country just like Bey. So, I see it as a statement that all three of them do belong in country music, whatever genres they did before

2. If white people pushed African-Americans out of the country genre, she's not gonna do the same to them. She's putting out the statement that there should be a place for people of any race in country music

3. She seems to genuinely like Miley and probably even Post. Both of them are huge Bey fans too
