Ironic how this base went from dogging aespa for "falling off" 2 years ago to being the Top 2 / Biggest Girl Group now

also aespa has two IT Girls in korea  ( 1  being arguably the biggest 4th gen idol ) and Ningselle popularity aren't that bad either / more popular than like 3/5 members of other girl groups so like that already warrants them to be the Top Girl Group currently  :hippo:

No there's not. NewJeans were the only ones who used to have a brick wall between them and rest of their peers in terms of impact/cultural wise before the HYBE drama.

Otherwise the gap between the rest is not as big as you claim

There were also signs all over Incheon airport with aespa's faces and a publicly announced ambassadorship for them too, what a ridiculous measuring stick though, get a grip. Here you go since you like media play bait so much. There's plenty more where that came from.:bibliahh:

since were talking about cultural impact

don't forget who started the whole airport ambassadorship thing, they even had their faces on the most popular commercial district in seoul

Now you can see SNSD at the airport too. | SNSD Korean

city of girls' generation gangnam

I remember that user saying their impact is fluke and the gap between them and their contemporaries wasn't that huge but were using airport now as a measurement for "impact"  :matty:

"b-b-b-but did SM pay for articles about what a momentous achievement for kpop this was and how it only made them 2nd to Blackpink? It doesn't count if a western media shill didn't tell me about it!!" Type responses incoming. Y'all aren't even bragging about your favs popularity in the real world, you're bragging about your favs popularity on soompi and on kpop twitter. It's really just some expensive ad space at an airport in every case.:suburban:

yep but if it's non SM girl groups " OrGaniC111, gEnUine110." :celestial5:

I thought we shifted the narrative from being local to global now so why are we exactly using a south korean airport to determine one's impact :celestial5:

It's not the same type of ad at all. The first thing every person sees when the enter South Korea is a picture of NewJeans which used to be BLACKPINK, while aespa is more just casual ads in comparison.

Header-Image-2024-04-03T110754.456.jpg

And also it's not just about the airport etc.

Like are we seriously trying to act like aespa are anywhere close to what NewJeans achieved from 2022-2023 :skull: Only BTS and BP have seen this type of domination.

And also, I don't disagree with aespa being the top gg right now, but just that there isn't a huge gap between them and the rest as y'all claim. NewJeans were the only ones who used to have a huge gap. THE END

That woman with Attitude Problem (HyunA) was the Welcome to Korea person before BTS and before her it was SNSD.

Have you ever been to an airport? This either screams I don't think critically about what I read online or I've never noticed the amount of advertising at a major airport. No this isn't the first thing that everybody sees, it's in a prominent space though. :suburban:

numbers wise, NJ, aespa, IVE are all fairly close and all took turns being the #1 4th GG on every chart. One of these groups is relatively lacking in talent and originality but more importantly has made it a mission to make generic faceless payola-driven playlist fodder for the past few years and coast off their initial hype, becoming another disposable idol group. Hence why I only say NJ and aespa. There are actually metrics like touring though where NJ doesn't apply and the top 2 is aespa/IVE.

Ultimately though, I feel that unique branding and a reputation for quality and/or talent is as important as any individual chart, which is why NJ and aespa who are the most unique of the representative 4th gen groups, stand head and shoulders above their peers. NJ was on track to being bigger than BTS but pigman made sure that didn't come to pass.

Le Sserafim is my 2nd fav 4th gen group but they took a huge hit in popularity just as they were getting established, that never ends well for groups.

Griddle are killing it, especially in Korea but their tours dont do numbers and their fanbase is weaker than the others despite being around much longer.

Park Bom and her backup dancers are holding up against SNSD and WG with 2 albums and 2 minis in their entire discog total, none of which was released in the last decade. Ntfm on the legend herself

SNSD's biggest hits and rest of their discography was only made available pre COVID

2NA/1 had a lot of time to catch up

I guess twitter vibes can only get you far

Almost nobody listening to Gee on Spotify in 2025 is just finding out about them through that app, catching up doesn't apply. Be realistic bestie. It's not CLs fault that she packed a decade worth of hits into 2 years worth of activities, spread across a span of 5 years. See when you do classics.

While we're bragging about meaningless achievements and tying kpop to Korea's national identity though, this was still the most prestigious performance in kpop history. Unlike booking some ad space and doing a puffy press release about it, this was actually done by popular demand.

Now I'm kinda supporting this group, Wumuti (the Uyghur contestant who used to be in Under Nineteen, Boys Planet, The Build Up in Korea and The Voice and The Dance, Road To Star & Super Idol in China) is the one who picked the member, his Youtube channel became the groups channel, he also the songwriter of the group and picked the concept and all.

He also had to do a PPT to his company to get his group funded for their debut. Like we need to support this organic way of debuting.

For someone to have a "brick wall", they have to be #1 in almost metric with a big gap, which isn't the case with the 4th gen ggs.

For LE SSERAFIM's case, they might've taken a hit on domestic charts with Crazy, but the song is still shaping up to be their biggest hit globally and is still charting on Spotify Global. It even managed to chart on the Hot 100 for multiple weeks.

They are also are the top 2 biggest 4th gen gg globally especially in Japan and the US which are the 2 biggest music markets in the world. You can even make arguments about them being #1 in Japan.

The way I forget that you're an OG YG Rat as well.

Who would you pick between BIGBANG, 2NE1 or SNSD if you had to pick just one?

What's up with the BTS members constantly referencing to BP, as if they have no clue that the BP members will get ton of hate from their cult fanbase? STAY AWAY!

The Ratmys are now going to have meltdowns and drag Rosé since their Oppa is listening to her music, which isn't her fault:rip:
