The song was released in November 2017 as the 2nd single from Sia's Christmas album 'Everyday Is Christmas'.

 

After the song went viral on TikTok in fall 2020, because of an internet challenge (of singing a 40-second portion of the song in one go/breath) associated with it, a slowed down version was released in November 2021 as a bonus track on the album's deluxe edition. A sped-up version of "Snowman" was released as one of four bonus tracks on the (Nov) 2022 reissue of 'Everyday Is Christmas'.
